Just to add somthing....Its not the same but a couple of years ago we had booked to go to Mexico in what we thougth wasnt a massive hotel when I looked into it further Thomsons only used half of the resort so they only put in the brochure that there was about 400 rooms but they had included allthe bars and restraunt from the whole resort over 900 rooms. I got on to ABTA and they didnt want to know. So I contacted Ros the HT solicitor who told me if they wouldnt move me or give me my money back becuae they had mis represent the information in the brochure I had to write to them telling them I was only accepting the holiday under duress. That way when you get back if it did go pear shaped you would get your money back...with a fight.

But I said NO I wanted a GOOD 2 weeks holiday and not a fight, so I kept calling and e-mailing Thomsons upto 10 times a day talking to different people finaly I got one that would allow me to change and I was only within 2 weeks of departure.
Try this...Find a hotel you want to move to....then dont ask them...Just say I want to change my holiday to this hotel XYZ ..dont give them a reason they will charge you but its better than allthe hassle

Trouble is because its the Easter School Holidays there are very few places left with the main facility we specificly booked for i.e. A kids club that would accept our two year old (only because he was a nightmare at meal times last holiday and only one of us got to eat each meal time with our daughter as the other had to stay in the room with DS). It was because of this I asked to be moved last November as I knew with school holidays it would be difficult to change nearer the time. There are a few holidays available but they are way way out of our price range!

The Kids Club is open 9am to 10pm so it covered us for mealtimes and the odd drink if DS took to impersonating Satan again this year! Are very few hotels offering Clubs for his age. Last year me and the OH only had 1 meal together and we paid a hotel babysitter £40 for the privilege (3 hours!). Thats why this hotel seemed ideal for us and indeed it was until Wilma claimed half the hotel and all of the beach!

Becky004...what hotel are you going to? Might you be better off just going as long as all teh major services that you booked i.e kids clubs are still running.
If you have the hotels contact details e-mail them and request a room furthest away from any work.
Its just that if they do let you change like you said what can you change it too? unless you went closer to home such as the med.

    Crown Paradise Club

Room location isn't a problem as work will have stopped by bedtime, if we get a room! It appears that as they are 280 rooms down till August the 280 they still have are sometimes overbooked people have been waiting up to 36 hours to be given a room! Noise and dust during day will be an issue, yes we could go elsewhere every day but that will cost, we booked this one all inclusive as it had a variety of restaurants so we could stay on the complex because of the kids without getting bored with the same food every night, and if necessary they could go to the club while we ate (if 2 year old did a repeat performance of last year!). Won't be able to do that if we leave the complex.
Obviously if they won't exchange we will go but I think its atrocious we will have to pay the price we were paying when the hotel was in perfect condition.

its a tough one ...wonder if they would re book the holiday (same hotel) for a later date, just try to think of as many alternatives for you as poss.
Have you gathered al the information off the net and kept copies to send to them and copies to ABTA? might be worth giving Ros a ring of holidaytruths...go to the holiday complaints forum her numbers there
