  • I have had this problem twice in last 2 weeks with lloyds,
I have a loan with them, have had loans with them for about 7 years now!!
Only have £1200 left to pay then im done and dusted!!
On both occasions they have said i should take out a new loan at a lower rate.

Then proceeded to give me hard sell at the counter, in front of other customers, very embarassing!! Both times have been when i have been paying money into my loan!!

Last time the clerk even laughed at me when i said i was aiming to pay off the loan in about 2 months, very unprofessional!!!!!
£5000 debt cleared thanks to MSE advice :money:

Well I reckon that as you all see yourselves as " shop " keepers, you should fully emulate Tesco and Sainsbury's and be forced to open on Sundays, and Bank Holidays as well, in fact, why not fully emulate some filling stations and open 24/7?;)

    ( How's that for a start ld?..):D :rotfl:

errm do you want me to answer that??? lol

Having said that, if there was a serious business need to open longer, later, on weekends or even the middle of the night, im happy to do so.. but I certainly wouldnt choose to do it.
I wouldn't be happy to do so at all. I actually have a life outside work that I'd miss if I needed to work unsociable hours.

Afterglow, this is EXACTLY what I witnessed at my Lloyds branch last week. It may even have been you, as I live close to Brighton. I'm so sorry - you should not have been treated in that way.

Most towns have no need for sunday banking, we have extended our sat openings at my branch till 3pm and it's still dead as it always was after 12pm even when we opened till 1pm.

The big difference between buiding societies is that they have very little counter service - You can't take out large amounts of cash without giving notice, they can't process your bill payments or cheques.

I think all banks should follow nationwides lead and stop people from using the counter for transactions under £30 or just for a balance enquiry this would certainly shorten the queue

That it would, however you would still have customers like Inactive who think that it is their right to stand in a queue and wait expecting to served rather than use a more convenient way of banking that would probably save them alot more time.

It is my right to use my bank however I choose, within the banks T&C's, if my bank cannot/will not provide enough counter staff, that is their problem, not mine, as I have said before.

Strange that they can provide plenty of staff to stand around generally getting on customers nerves.

Well as far as i'm aware although many towns now have sunday opening many towns only have major retaillers open on a sunday and the high street is pretty quiet. As I said if people don't come in on a saturday afternoon, why would they come in on a sunday?
