Don't get your eyes tested in Tescos. I went to Tescos in Oxfordshire and the optician said I had a blurred optic disc and swollen optic nerve, he said it could be a brain tumor. I went through weeks of worry and stress only to be told by an eye specialist that there was nothing wrong with my eyes. Please don't use Tescos, save yourself a whole load of worry.
I also had to go back 7 months later to see the specialist (7 months of worry) and still nothing wrong.

Oh don't be hysterical! Not every tesco uses the same optician!! Opticians have to report anything that could be sinister, it's their job to be vigilant, thank goodness it turned out to be nothing, but you cannot tar tesco opticians with the same brush because one optician was over cautious!

Got my eyes tested in Tesco last thursday :) It was very thorough examination (most thorough I've had actually) and the optician lady was lovely. I came away feeling good because I had never had as good an eye test. I would rather they told me of anything they found or weren't sure about to be honest, I understand its a worry but better to be safe than sorry in my opinion. I was also impressed as my lenses were included in the frames price and when I chose my glasses whci happened to be some designer name and you get your pair free its another designer pair u get to choose free not a cheap range like most other places offer (or where I used to go anyway which was well known high street name) I would recommend tesco opticians. Their frames were so much cheaper. Comparing it to my last visit I have saved over £180 or more if you consider both frames being designer and no extra cost for lenses....which I have to add wouldn't normally bother me I tend to go with if I like the frames not the name. Happy days :)

I was long overdue an eye test so when a friend said he'd been to Tescos, & had the most thorough test ever, I thought I'd go there too.

It was indeed very thorough, and he thought I had some signs of detached retinas (an increased risk with very short sight) so phoned the hospital who wanted me in there straight away.

Retinas not detached, but they said they'd do my cataracts; I wasn't having real problem with them but, in having the op., the new lenses they insert correct eyesight, so I thought it was worth doing.

Outcome: I've gone from -14 to -0.5 in 1 eye, & -12 to -1 in the other! No need to constantly wear expensive glasses, off the peg readers are OK, but I've just been back to Tescos & ordered a prescription pair which correct my mild astigmatism too. Offer on at the mo. - single vision prescription glasses including choice from a range of frames - for £10. Frames priced at £65+ are on BOGOF.

All I can say is i was impressed by Tescos, & would echo previous posts in wanting to be told if they were concerned that something was wrong.
