I used to have an email address exculsively for use on Ebay and as such it would only be visible to sellers i had bought off. But the number of times I had spamming or hacking attempts to that address made me question the honesty of some people0

Dear Friends
After a couple of unpleasant experiences on Ebay with shoddy and damaged goods(I am exclusively a buyer) i have decided to try and avoid Ebay for a year and save some money. I find myself using sites like Amazon far more-and I have not had any problems with them at all. There are far too many cowboys on Ebay and when things go wrong one gets mired down in disputes with Paypal and chargebacks trying to get ones money back. Who needs that hassle!
Do you agree?
People should always remember the old adage: "you pay peanuts, you get monkeys". I only use eBay for hard-to-find items or from well established eBay business sellers with excellent feedback.0 -

I agree, i have just started buying makeups from ebay, so far 10 items all claimed new but 4 out of 10 has tested or slicely used, its easy to tell, I am so annoyed. maybe i should go to shop buy the new one for few quids more.:beer:0

Ebay seems like a crooks paradise and is best to be avoided.0

It seems to be certain areas that have a high degree of complaint.
I've never had an issue with any business seller on eBay and have purchased everything from oven glue to musical instruments. I buy a lot of action figures from private sellers, and have only had one instance where I had cause to complain (back in the bad days when a buyer could not leave a neg without the seller retaliating).
Is there a list of products that are likely to cause disappointment and are perhaps best purchased elsewhere ? Make up and boots seem to come up a lot.0 -
Make up and boots seem to come up a lot.
I buy the majority of my make-up when I can (high end brands) from ebay and have never had a problem. If you do your homework then it's usually quite obvious to work out whether to buy from a seller or not. The cheapest seller with 8?% feedback is never usually a good bet.0 -
My purchases from Ebay have been either -
1) Mailers and labels to support my Ebay sales/Amazon store
2) Pick-up only items within 10 to 15 miles of me, which typically are cheap as chips.0
