I think my son has his first bout of nits  Are they small black things ? These things are not moving but he has something stuck on his hairs ? If they are nits, how does the vinegar idea work ? Do I wash his hair and then put vinegar on and leave it ?

Sorry for so many questions but I am itching and I'm not sure if it is just in my mind or that I have got something too !!!

Hi. I put conditioner on hair and combed thru with the nit comb, each time I combed thru I wiped the nit comb on a paper towel so that's how I saw the lice. When I informed the school the following morning this is what they said "putting conditioner and nit comb thru the hair is preventative and would remove the lice but wouldn't remove any eggs".How correct this is I don't know as this was our first bout.
I bought some stuff from the chemist but later discovered that the vinegar was the old-fashioned remedy for removing the eggs.

What I do know is the conditioner, nit comb, and then vinegar rinse just to be on the safe side.

I put white wine vinegar about an egg cup full into a bowl of warm water to make a vinegar/water mixture. I use this concoction to give the final rinse on the kids hair. Really makes the hair shiny too.
