Very worrying stop press news re Anglo Irish

Absolutely agree. It's not like you are forced to read... or are you a Masochist?
No I am not a masochist, but I am definitely a pessimist - always have been.
I just don't think it is right that they let some people withdraw and not others. There must have been an awful lot of people withdrawing their money if £10 billion was taken out of Ireland last week.
I might just try a telephone call before I give up completely, nothing ventured and all that.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I also agree with Mikeyorks. I've trotted off a letter to AI, got the same response as most people, and, well, what more can I do? As a poster said some days ago, there's a sort of comforting closure once you're at this stage. And as people say, it's all with the Irish Government and Europe now, which is stronger than most banks, I'd guess...0

I'm a she, do you think a man would be so manic?:D
Oops sorry, but oh yes I have seen plenty.
I have have sympathy with your concerns, I hope it works out ok for you and when your bond matures you get a chance to have a laugh and enjoy the extra interest earned, Good luck (I'm in this too)0 -
Melbury: Seriously, relax. You're looking for negatives, finding them and focussing on them to feed your own anxiety.
I have £50k in a fixed term bond which matures in Jan 2010. I'm not worried at all. I think it is much more likely I will be hit by a bus than loose any of that money or interest within the bond term.
....when it matures and I put it toward a home, well thats another thing! :rotfl:0 -

Yes Melbury look on the bright side, when Manics gets hit by that bus, if he has no heirs then Anglo Irish will be 50k closer to liquidity0 -

There's a few of us in it - and I will enjoy the day when my money is returned with interest at 7.05% - going to be a great day!0
