    Hi Melbury

    I suggested you telephoned Anglo Irish over a week ago did you? If you did what was their response. Also I would now ring them tell them you have requested withdrawal, if they say they have lost your request say it is an emergency and you cant wait - suffer the loss of penalty you going grey with all this worry wont help.

    If you think I would have chosen to put myself through all of this worry for a bit more interest, then you are completely mistaken.

    .

    No I don't think that at all. I too am locked in, but I as I believe I am being rewarded for my additional risk I am not too concerned, if I was only getting about 4% I would be concerned

    You should seriously consider getting out of this as it is clearly getting you down. November is a long way off. I suggest that you write to Anglo Irish again telling that you health is being damaged and it is now vital that your money is returned albeit with an interest penalty.

    I think my interpretation of the risk:return ratio is somewhat different! The gain in interest of, say 3%, doesnt justify the risk of, well, 100%!

    Totally agree. If its stressing you that much, its just not worth it. I would be:

    telephoning them every day, getting the name of the person you have contacted and maintaining contact with that person;
    writing to them again and sending the letter by recorded delivery;
    keeping a diary of all contact made in case you need to refer to it later

    Best of luck...

    LOL, It's nowhere near a 100% that Ireland is going to go bust AND then default on savings accounts, ie no rescue package from any source.

    No, it's not 100% probability. But in risk terms, there is the maximum risk of 100%, unlikely as it is. Even buying a FTSE tracker is less risky! lol

    That's the whole point! You don't compare the 3% (plus any interest lost as a penalty) to 100% you compare it to the actual probability

    Thanks for all of your replies.

    I really don't know what to do for the best; whether to chase them up in relation to my original letter, which basically said I want to withdraw because of the change to the T&C's or, leave it a couple of weeks and then write again totally ignoring the fact that I have previously written and do what many others have done and make up an excuse.

    Knowing my luck they will have my original letter filed away and so will just fob me off if I write again.

    I just wish I had never heard of Anglo Irish Bank, the whole thing seems to have been a complete disaster run by total conmen. The things that have come out about it this week are terrible.
    Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:

    I'm sure that "actual probability" must be an oxymoron - like "friendly fire"!
