first I'd donate sizable amounts to the charities that have helped me & my family, local homeless charities, the National Autistic society, the local disabled childrens centre & our local hospice.
then I'd donate money for a local centre for children to be diagnosed earlier with things such as autism, aspergers, adhd, dyslexia etc as it is severely needed where I live.
then I'd donate money to national & international charities such as Oxfam, Shelter, missing persons & cancer & aids charities.
then I would be left with a less scary amount of money & could treat all the family & buy houses for my sons.
would help deserving people on DFW too & donate money to MSE :money:
then I would retreat to the country river cottage style & become a hermit
becoming self sufficient would be more than enough to keep me busy0 -
Probably 1/3 to charities, 1/3 to relatives.
That would leave me with 30m, which I think would be plenty!
After that the task list would be
- give up job
- take a job with a "good cause" or try to make a career as a freelance writer
- buy a flat in Manchester or London
- buy a house in the country - not TOO big or remote
- sell the car. I don't like driving and will get around by train (1st class) and taxi
- employ a secretary to deal with the begging letters
- holidays!
- pay for child to get through college
- put some money in a trust fund for child
- rest to be invested in a wide spread of assets - property,
shares, gold, etc
probably enough for now!
It has to be said that whoever wins the 100m is going to be an instant celebrity which is not going to suit everyone.
Joke:
If you win the lottery, what will you do about begging letters?
Keep sending them, of course!0 -
We had been talking about this in work over the last couple of weeks
I make sure all of my family and OH family and best friends where comfortable.
Give my close work colleagues and decent bung and other 130 or so £50k each.
I would give some to my fave charities (not all medical or overseas I am afraid to say)
As we are BR we could pay all of that off plus mortgage car etc.
I would buy a greek island (Rhodes would be nice) and move there
..................well can but dream

I think the lottery is a rip-off. The chances of anybody winning anything are miniscule. If I was a gambler (which I'm not) I'd stand a better chance of putting money on the roulette wheel down at the casino. Or on a horse or a greyhound. I'd have better odds.

Make no hasty decisions (probably be too hungover to do so anyway!) So whilst self-inflicted headache subsides, will pop down to Monte Carlo and bung it all in there for time being, earning interest that Mr Brown cant touch (ALA Philip Green except he only had 80 million!)
PS estimated £125 million this coming Friday0 -
oh no... THAT MEANS ANOTHER £1.50 oh well, no point in anyone else buying a ticket as it's all going to be mine
well i can dream, and don't worry i'd pay off all your debts!!!0 -
But im sure youd share it Moo right?
I won £8 two stars and one normal, a wins a win but not enough to share sorry.
124 mil next week though:jDebt Free At Last!:j0 -
oi pixie, no claiming it...it's mine!!!
i've not bought a lottery ticket for years but it's just too hard to resist!!

In no particular order....
1. Buy a really, really good horse that would win at Cheltenham.
2. Buy somewhere to live in Italy, etc etc. Not too big. But with pool etc.
3.Buy somewhere to live here, dk where yet.
4. Trust funds, houses etc for kids.
5. I would take great pleasure in giving lots of money to work colleagues who've been fun and supportive - and afraid to say would take even greater pleasure in telling some others exactly why they were getting nothing.....
6. Pay off mortgages of all family & friends, with a million to quite a few.
7. Have 4 buy - to - let properties - would give 3 to lovely tenants, get hit man in for 1 I'm trying to evict:shhh:
8. Pay off loads of debts on here - esp Moo & Pixie and all those who make me laugh.
9. Give at least 30 million to Shelter, Crisis, Salvation Army, the woman with the funny name and turban in London who looks after children who've had really crap lives - she's inspirational. But would prob want input into how it was spent - need an interest after all.,......
10. Go on residential course to learn Italian and not leave till I was fluent (see 2 above).
11. Get Martin to give me financial advice - think how much he could save if he had a hundred million to play with!!!!!_party_
12. Hold a big party - suggestions for venue (you're obv all invited)A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Ali, couple of comments.
2. Glad to see you're still being careful, dont want to spend too much in Italy, why let Berlisconi (spelt wrong) prosper from your winnings.
11. I think you'd be a perfect candidate for the next series of MMR!0
