I think winning 100 million would be even more of a headache than being in the amount of debt I'm in now. I really think it would be more of a curse than a blessing, because there's no doubt that kind of money would change people and probably not for the better. I suspect it's a power thing. I would be afraid of it, but there's nothing to stop you giving the bulk of it to worthy charities and leaving a decent amount for yourself. I agree with others, I would love to win a 5 figure sum, just to clear my debts and have some for a rainy day - this is to have a normal life. But I wouldn't say no to 2 or 3 million, I think that's a managable amount to have without ruining your life, cos you could spread it amongst your family.0

This site has helped me enourmously.. not just by sorting my act out or by showing me where i can save money but the encouragement that I get from here has really given me a boost when I would look at my debt and feel like giving up.
So If I won all that lovely dough I would donate some to the site..MFWB

Had a think about this and I would probably buy one or more businesses and start some trusts/charities to help with housing and job finding. But I also had this idea: Buy a debt collection agency. Move them all to a nice new office. Run business for a few months. Then hire a few ex-servicemen who have had debt problems, get the staff in one by one (having found something they'd done wrong) and sack them on the spot (to be immediately escorted off the premises via the back door). The whole business to have been the subject of an undercover documentary from start to finish. Hopefully it would be the "Kathy come home" of debt collecting and would provoke a complete overhaul of the industry.A house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

£100 Million-
£30 million to my NHS to get them out of debt (leaves me £70million)
£15 million to friends and family (Leaves me £55million)
£10 million in a savings account (Leaves me £45million)
£20 million into regenerating my area of Swansea, South Wales Where I SAY what the money get's spent on and not the local authority (Leaves me £25million)
£10 million to goto Children In Need (Leaves me £15million)
£10 million to goto Sunami appeal (Leaves me £5million)
£5 million for myself then. (Don't forget I have the saving's account too)0 -
How about a debt charity for people who are really struggling with debt. It could offer advice on how to reduce outgoings (courtesy of MSE!), and for serious situations - grants to pay off serious debts for people, educational grants to pay for education to then get better paid jobs, budgeting lessons for children and older, debt & credit lessons and how it all works.....
I can't comprehend £100million, I would be happy with £100,000 and be done! Not that I would turn it down of course!Lightbulb moment - October 2005

Would probably buy my local footie team for £65m, spend £15m on players, then spread the remaining £15m between family/friends and charity and would keep £5m for myself to buy nice house, car, holiday home etc etc.
However I know that someone will win, but I do honestly think that £100m for 1 person is way to much, it's not too bad if more than 10 people win, but otherwise people won't know what to do with it all.
I do think the jackpot on these should be limited to say £5m, as any more is likely to be too much for 1 person.
As people have already said, just having enough to clear the mortgage is enough for most people.2014 running challenge 587.4 miles / 250 miles0 -
aHHHH........... Money does'nt make you happy....... it just makes the journey in life simpler.
Money cant buy love ( I've learnt that and now I'm paying the price )
100m is a sizeable lump. I'd look to the future and buy up as much 'high standing' ( altitude ) LAND as possible ( keeping a decent lump sum £££ back so i could comfortably live off the intrest )
It'd be a great feeling to get local charities what they need ( care for the elderly schemes, hospices, road saftey campaigns etc ) as opposed to just handover cash to some faceless subcontractor who will no doubt guzzle up a sizeable chunk of the donation for their running costs and profits )
Buying back ( from auction ) peoples bailiff removed goods and returning them would also leave a warm glow inside ( assuming the person did not recklessly get in that situation, but was more a victim of circumstance through job less, infirmity etc )
Probably most important to not spend more each year than the amount you'd get in intrest so you could keep the ball rolling indefinately.single forever, not looking. Don't drink, don't smoke. Oh what a Happy Bunny !!!
