Cause I get the same thing - just assumed it was "normal" (guess a tracking kinda thing)- what's the "score" with this then?

I think its a bit of tracking software or graphic from http://www.big-boards.com/ that may keep an eye on statistics for this site so it will adjust rankings.....

A bit like a reverse hit counter me thinks.. Or I could be entirely wrong.
But it is a link of some kind or another.

I thought I would answer on behalf of webby - we decided that we would provide extra information to big-boards. Big-boards tracks the most active message boards and forums on the web. This extra information in turn can be used to place us extended statistics such as average online users and max online users. The way we provide this information is to embed an image file - the one you mention above into the page and there server then gets called every time a page is loaded - you as a user will never see an image appear.

However, as an aside it is quite worrying the fact that sometimes there is a delay on the loading of the page due to that image. If it crops up that this image is repeatedly causing delays to our users then we will remove this image and leave them without statistics.
