I bought a posh, reclining, padded expensive highchair which takes up far too much room. i have also bought an ikea chair and it is great. It doesn't take up much space, easy to move and clean. I use both at the moment in different rooms, i only use the big one because i paid about £60 for it.now mum of 4!!!0

We have a Chicco Happy Snack for DS2, he went in it at 6 months and was fine. Dont quite see the point of its recline tho, but thats just my opinion.
We had an all singing all dancing one for DS1 and like another poster said too many nooks for the food to stick so it never felt 'properly' clean, the padding on the seat split. In general DH regretted ever buying it.
We also have the £12 Ikea chair at my aunts, we wanted a cheapie to stay there so we didnt have to take something with him everytime we went over and its done both DS1 and 2 and still going strong!Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110 -
I'm going to try a bumbo this time for early weaning and sit baby on the table with it, while I sit at table to feed. I found my other two used to slide down inside the highchair and generally look uncomfortable and hopefully the bumbo should provide better support. after that I'll prob just get an ikea cheapy.MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

Oh the bumbo is fantastic! when Alyssa was 3 months (that when we started a few solids) she loved it. Try to borrow one though or get a second hand one cos they outgrown them really quick (especially if your chilh has little chunky legs!)WE used ours for 3 months but I lent it to a few of my mates so mine has had its worth - lol!

We have the trippe trappe too and would highly recommend it although it is a dearer option than the Ikea one. Our son is able to sit at the table with us and feels part of the family (which at the moment is especially good as we are baby led weaning). We also know that it is a long term investment as he can use it when he is older too.Trying to save money but it's hard when there's so many sales on!

Ikea Antilop from 6 months onwards
- I listened to my friend's discuss (moan!) about their expensive highchairs
We recently moved to a Tchibo wooden highchair - similar principle to the tripp trapp. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
I would agree with mummymoo on the cube. We got one on freecycle!!
We wanted a wooden chair as we didn't want a bright plasticky one as we didn't want to fold and put it away all the time, just wanted it to fit in our kitchen. I love it, though I would definitely recommend the insert as they do slip a bit when they are small. I like the plastic tray as it fit's over our table. Means she is up with us but the mess is (slightly) contained. She started having a bit of food at 5 1/2 months but sat up with us from 4 months. Before that we would put her bouncer on the table so she could see what we were doing!
I also don't understand the recline thing?0 -
got to admit although i love my ikea chair, the recline position on the big high chair was useful when my son was 4ish months old as he was able to sit/lay in it comfortably whilst i did jobs in the kitchen and it was easier to feed him in when younger, also he occasionally fell asleep in it. But if you have a bouncy chair that does just as well for feeding whilst little.
I have 4 kids, you would really think that i would have learnt not to buy a great big highchair, but then again i bought the 'wrong' pram again this time round and ended up buying a more suitable one second handnow mum of 4!!!0 -
Ikea Antilop. We bought this high chair thinking it would be used for when we are eating outside, particularly to take in the caravan with us. Our baby has been in it since 4 months and he is now nearly 13 months. We have a bigger brand new one in the loft which we will have to get down but we regret buying that now. A superb highchair at a great price.0

I bought a Bebe Pod which is another version of the Bumbo but has slightly more thigh room. I am currently using this weaning my 6 month old daughter although tonight she was arching her back and wriggling loads so I think I will drag my Mothercare highchair out of the loft!I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
