I agree with blackpool ... we stayed in Ribby Hall which is about 6/7 miles outside blackpool - it is a lovely holiday village with nice pool, equestrian centre, outdoor park, indoor play area, evening entertainment etc (check their website). Highlight for my children (age 9,6,4) was the ducks on site - they sit on the patio waiting for tit bits in the morning!!!!
Blackpool is great - although a bit mad with hen/stag parties so glad we were not staying within the town. We used our Tesco vouchers for pleasure beach and it was a fantastic day out - the rides were great and my girls loved the ice show which is included with the wrist band. We also went to the zoo which has a great dinosaur section also. The Tower is really brill - the circus is second to none plus there is an indoor play area etc. Also went to Camelot which would probably have been more enjoyable if we hadnt already done Pleasure Beach. Also took a day to the Trafford Centre which was only about 25 mins down the motorway.

I would say with kids of those ages, a fairly short journey would be preferable.

There is so much to do in so many parts of the country that I honestly don't think you'd need to go more than a couple of miles away to have a really memorable holiday.

I concurr! Although it felt a bit daft going on "holiday" to somewhere that was less than an hour's drive away, to the children it felt like much further, and it was a whole lot more enjoyable for them than having to drive to the other end of the country!! Are we there yet, are we there yet? Lol.

    Jxx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

OOo yeah Isle of Wight if you can...I thought it was very child orientated....with the whole Island available to you. Lots on Tesco deals (well there were when we went) Blackgang Chine, a dinosaur place, The Needles, a wildlife place and lots of beaches, A steam train, even a ride on the everyday train service is a novelty as they are old underground trains and go to the end of the pier. Loads of stuff to do!! My son loved it!!
Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

  • I recommend Haggerston Castle in Northumberland. We have went there every year since we were born, obvs except when we went abroad. We rent a chalet there. There loads to do and we still dont get bored, theirs horse-riding, a huge boating pond with ducks, swans etc with paddle boats or if you hire a chalet next to the lake most have their own boat, indoor and outdoor pool, spa, all-day and night entertainment for all ages so theres never nothing to do, tennis courts and loads more. Oh and I got sunburnt there last year! We had really nice weather considering how bad the weather was last year. I really recommend it. xx

  • Hi, I agree that with small children it is better to not travel too far (We go to Center Parcs fairly regularly and it's less than 15 miles away from us).

Please could you tell us where you live and what your total budget is.
