I've been told over the phone that in order to qualify for a cheque guarantee card you must have at least £750 going into your account every month in the past six months.

That's probably because when the behaviour score is calculated, to get to 40+ would depend on a certain amount of income credited on a regular basis anyway...

OK - So now HSBC offer maestro cards without cheque guarantee and is that available to anyone who does not meet the criteria for full 3in1 card?

Have they stopped issuing solo cards?

    Solo cards are still issued

There are five tiers of HSCB bank card:

    1) Maestro Card with £250 cheque guarantee - very rare
    2) Maestro Card with £100 cheque guarantee - common for people with full bank account/ students before 2007
    3) Maestro Card without cheque guarantee- new customers with good rating and/or behaviour score/ students
    4) Solo Card for new/existing customers with behaviour score below 40 and children below age of 16
    5) Cashcard for basic account holders and instant access saving (discontinued in 2007)

I have the Maestro Card without cheque guarantee and couldn't be bothered to ask for a cheque guarantee card since I never use it.
