  • Hi all Im currently waiting for my medical results which was over 3 weeks ago. Ive been ill for just over 18 months and the trouble Ive had with IB claims has only served to make me worse. For the first 9 months I wasnt paid a penny as they claimed I had a shortfall in NI contributions from taking maternity leave in 2005 then they discovered that this was an error by my employer at that time and finally backdated the payments only to fail me on the first medical which I appealed.

Shortly after failing my condition took a servere turn for the worse as I have been suffering daily headaches for 18 months with mild vertigo but a change of meds turned the vertigo in to a almost constant thing and there are at least two weeks of every month (if im lucky only 2) where Im feeling nauseaus dizzy and shaky as well as the painful head aches and confusion which goes with them. I was told I couldnt claim again despite a worsening condition and they kept this up till September when in depseration I called a law centre who told me they were wrong and advised me to tell them this and submit a new claim - which is what i just had my medical for.

My original claim is still under tirbunal as I was too ill to attent the hearing pre xmas and the thought of attending another is making me stresses and anxious I have also been diagnosed with depression thought to be caused by the constant daily pain of the last 18 months. I have requested a written hearing but they seem intent on making me attend.

I too push myself too make life as normal as possible for my son and Like emwaever my son is very clingy with me because he knows I been ill and he has been farmed out quite a bit due to my health but without him I think I would have shot myself in the head some days just to stop the pain.

The medical was awful for me I was anxious and just wanted to go home I was in pain as the chairs are so uncomfortable and was dizzy as hell as for some reason artificial lights and corridors like the job centres tesco and asdas of this world set of my vertigo I nearly fell of a chair without arms they tried to make me sit on.

I cant wait to hear so my guts can stop knotting up

Hope you all hear soon too sorry for the essay
  • I receieved my letter this morning regarding the medical (PCA). I passed. The only difference from last year is that I'm up for review in 6 months time last year it was awarded for 12months.

So you may be getting your forms to fill in again in 12 weeks time? to apply for esa..could you not appeal.

It would not be ESA, it would still be IB, ESA is only new claims at the moment.

You cannot appeal against the length of time until the next review for IB.

The paperwork is sent to you well before your review date usually....Why appeal/cant you say your condition is not likely to improve in such a short time..
I got mine altered from one year to 5 years(with evidence)

You are incorrect. You can do this with DLA but you cannot do this with IB/ESA.

    (with evidence)

Is it? Has anyone else been sent the IB50 miles before the review date?

My letter says it will be after not before and last time it after.

No people are not sent the IB50 miles before the review date, it is usually sent just after the review date.

I think nogin is getting mixed up with DLA which is sent up to 6 months before the renewal is due. The letter you have is correct.
