Estate agents not trying.

I telephoned four estate agents near me (Penwortham, Preston) and informed them I was a cash buyer looking for a good deal on a detached house.

This was about three weeks ago and I have heard nothing from any of them.

I thought they were meant to be struggling.

Nothing, what more need I do?

I am not really bemoaning the fact that they have not got in contact with me, more the fact that they OWE it to their clients to let me know what is available.

I have done plenty, I have firmly placed the ball in their court.

I wanted to rent out a house and contacted three estate agents in my town. Only one of them got back to me and they said they couldn't come and take photos etc out of office hours.

    Total waste of space!!

I doubt if they have taken your enquiry seriously. Everybody wants a good deal. However they are only agents. Its up to you to view properties then make an offer.

With the internet which you obviously have, its easy enough to view property for sale. ;)

I disagree, they know who is more eager to sell and it is their job to try and create sales for their customers.

Otherwise they would be called "door openers".

Have you given them a specific area?
  • did you register, or did they ask you to register? if you said no then i suggest thats why they didnt take you seriously, if they did register you and are aware of your buying position and still havent got in touch with you then thats criminally poor service!
Also they should have asked you to confirm your status by providing proof of funds etc but i guess if you didnt want to view anything they may have decided to leave that until you did.

    Yes.

That's why I phoned rather than emailed, so that I could answer any questions straight away.

It is not too big a deal for me because I can wait and wait, but I feel they should be pushing any properties on behalf of their client.

I did register and one of them sent me an A4 envelope containing every 3/4 bed house even if it was not detached.. But since then, nothing.
