Good for you, Jamla. Too many people don't say anything when they get bad service or unacceptable quality, but if we don't complain, they don't have the opportunity to put it right. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

It is good to stand up for your rights - but I've realised if you fight too much for proper treatment it can make you ill - so sometime we have to learn to back down for our own sakes.0

Hi all,
I'm here to join in too. I'm feeling really down today. I was in a work related incident a year ago now and I'm still off work and in a lot of pain. I've had to move out of my flat because I couldn't afford to keep it and back in the box room at my mums. I know I'm lucky to have that option, but I moved out when I was 16 for a reason.
My mum has never been a 'mummy' mum, and I used to run the house as well as go to school and I had enough. She has her own issues which manifests in hoarding. The place is a mess and is just neglected. I've managed to make my space liveable, but it can get me down.
Add to that the fact my company has reneged on everything they've promised and have stopped paying for my physical and mental therapies. I don't feel like the same person anymore.Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -

Hello Friends
It's silly o'clock as I type this, but I've been lying in bed unable to sleep, and it occurs to me that there's not a Depression thread yet.
I think those of us who suffer this can help each other. I'd like to think so, anyway; I do know that, as a MoneySaving forum, it is relevant for those of us who go a bit OTT with the spending when the Black Dog has us. I know I do - I spend far and away too much on alcohol.
Depression is as much a disability as the physical stuff (of which I do have some also, I have lupus) but it is so sad that it is seen as something you can "pull yourself together" from. Etc, etc. If you've read this far, you know that it doesn't work that way.
OK, to get to the point..... I have had severe depression from very early in life (diagnosed at the age of 12, I have been on various anti-d's for the last 37 years) and I'd like to offer a "paw" of friendship to others in the jaws of the Black Dog.
I can't, obviously, wave a magic wand and solve all your problems, but I do think that we can perhaps share coping strategies, and maybe provide some mutual support.
:hello: Lamewolf,
We do have a depression thread on the site as I am part of it and there are so many friendly people,do join as you will feel most welcomed.

Hi, my husband has been formally dignosed with depression since 1990 , he is just 60 (although I told him what some of you others have said and he too says he's suffered with it since he was a child - certainly he has always been prone to being very 'down') . He too calls it The Black Dog. He is early retired now on a Teachers' Pension and a bit of Incapacity Benefit.
I'm just here to say 'well done' with this support thread and I love the one poster's remarks about a black dog helping her with her Black Dog. This would help my husband too!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Sigh boyfriend/partner (non live in) has just rung, his company had big meeting everyone getting 5% pay cut, redundancies to follow, no one safe they're not going to follow the last in first out rule so the fact he's been there 7 years wont count. He's very down and worried as I know are a lot of people out there sigh so it's not helped my 'dawg' today and I have to go have root canal work at 11.30 and I'm sitting here shaking thinking about it I hate dentist can't open my mouth hardly at all so he digs around and it hurts and I end up swallowing bits of teeth filling etc horrid and no one to go with me crikey not a great day.0
