  • There is nothing that can beat a thundering good book. I have just finished Orwell's "The Road to Wigan Pier." Magnificent, and although it is written about a society in days gone by, it is chillingly real today.

  • Hi Pixie,

Try standing up, gather all your troubles in front of you and put them down on the floor at your feet. Then very slowly straighten up and stretch your arms up to the heavens as high as you can go. While straightening up realise you have left your troubles behind and smile and think how happy you are.

Then go into the bathroom and smile like billyo at your self. You will feel great.

And I have to say I agree with the others who said eat chocolate. The dark 70% stuff is good for you.

    Cheers,

    Sheelagh

  • Hi,

I really enjoyed this thread...thanks for all the tips. I keep all the sample sachets of hair conditioner, body lotion or whatever that you get in magazines and keep them for moments when I feel a bit down. It's nice to feel pampered and to use stuff you don't normally use.

A little trip abroad - 'The Sun' is offering £1 per foot passenger Dover - Calais. £10 per car, and there's a gorgeous little restaurant at Guines, just outside Calais....

Depends where you live, of course.
