Have you got a local college nearby? Go for a massage. Mine charges £3.50 for a back massage. It's done by trainees but is closely supervised. Same goes for facials and other hair and beauty treatment. The down side is that they are normally during the week.0

Put on about 10 layers of clothes, fill a flask with soup, grab the nearest friend/partner/neighbour/dog and go off on a long walk and winter picnic until the sun starts to set, then once home have that long hot bath, put on your comfiest and scruffiest bathrobe and watch old movies (or whatever floats your boat!) and ENJOY!"I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0

Dear All
Put 'frugal living' into the search engine, and see all the suggestions about money-saving. Especially good is https://www.about.com and then to go the frugal living part. I'm sorry I'm a bit vague about this, but I am on the mailing list so I'm not quite clear how to address it. It is an American site, so not everything is geared to the British situation. But I think it is good to see how others manage.
I grew up on a prairie farm in Saskatchewan in 50s and early 60s, which was very frugal, but I still find myself getting into spendthrift ways.
As to enjoyable pick-me-ups, why not subscribe to one of the cheap phone services, so that you can enjoy 0p per minute phone calls in UK and 1 or 2 p per minute to some other countries, and then you can enjoy a good natter with family and friends who are far away. I certainly find this is a great morale booster.
All the best

A facepack definitely does the trick.....once you have it on and look in the mirror it's impossible NOT to laugh !!!!!!!
Also a 99p sachet will usually do twice if you carefully fold the top over and put a clothes peg on it after taking the first lot out.0 -

Everyone should take time out to relax, life is so stressful and busy for most of us, I'm sure we'd all feel better if we found some 'me' time a little more often!~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -
Hi Pixie
I get my best friend over for the evening- we pool our resources and either craft or cook. Made all manner of stuff over the years from soap, candles. turkish delight, handcreams, incense. It's just lovely to do something like that with good company and a glass of wine!
Hope you're feeling better

i was also feeling fed up the other day, i was at the bank and they had a coffee machine with free tea/ coffee and biscuits on, so i had a coffee and a chat with an advisor about my partners £10.00 charge per month??????? after this i had to go to boots to get my free time delay stuff!!!!!! and when i was paying, a lady gave me her £5.00 no7 voucher, so i got some toner free as well. all in all a really good trip to the shops. i felt so much better when i came home with my bag of free goodies. :rotfl::A Official Boots Tart :A

As a person with a personal debt the same size as my mortgage. I can relate to the cool feeling you get when no money has been spent on impulse spends during the week. One thing that always makes me giggle is when in Boots use your advantage card to collect one of their free products. These are normally small pouches of designer hair product, I never use them but the sight of it in my bathroom keeps me smiling. 1 - nil to the debtor.0
