www.livehost.org.uk do free web hosting with the popular cPanel control panel and they are UK based. :)
I can't seem to get it to work- I've logged into the client area- now what?
    I can't find the cPanel anywhere :D
    Cheers

I think you have to wait an hour or two for them to approve your order (to help stop dodgy spammers and phishers signing up)

I got another email a hour after signing up with the cPanel login details in.

    livehost's package seem a bit tight-fisted at 100MB with 500MB of traffic.

try http://venture.0lx.net/ also free but with 200MB and 6 GB traffic.

have a look at https://www.3ix.org I have a few sites hosted with them and never had a problem. It is only around £10 a year.
when getting a domain always make sure it is yours, and not part of a package that doesn't let you move if you want

Hi, I run a web company and we have used https://www.fasthosts.co.uk, https://www.names.co.uk and https://www.ecowebhosting.co.uk. The latter is by far the best for us and has been really reliable with fast support. You also get more control over the admin than some other hosting providers allow.

Hello, ive joined this thread a bit late but from my experience Media Temple is very very good! There server capacity is brilliant and the speed seems to be really good, ive tried a few and ive noticed the difference with media temple.

The price is as good as you'll get (esspecially if you want a hosting package) and if you use "kirupa07" promotional code you get 15% off ;)

Oops, sorry! Are you on TSO? I used to be on 1&1, but for the price, they really weren't worth it - and no Wordpress access too.

There really wasn't much on the web about TSO before I joined them (still isn't!) but I'm glad I made the jump.
