P&D ticket blew off dash

Hi I parked my car on Saturday and put the ticket on the passenger side of my dash as it was one of those paper tickets without the sticky part.
When I came back to my car I had been issued with a parking ticket. It appears that at some time between my leaving the car and being issued a ticket the P&D ticket had blown off the dash on to the drivers side floor well. Is there anything I can do?

I just wrote an appeal letter to the relevant address to say that I had purchased a ticket and that it was displayed (small white lie ) As they could see that the ticket I had bought (I think you need to send the original so keep a good photocopy) covered the time the fine was issued I got reprieved.

Yes I've done this before - If you can produce a valid ticket for the time of the alleged offence it would be a very harsh authority that would insist on payment of the fine.

OP, is this a council or a private ticket?

It would be useful if you could show us ALL of the ticket (removing any identifying info first of course). It may not be right, even if it's a council ticket.

I had the same problems with Milton Keynes parking people. I didnt lie and said what must have happened. They sent a letter back saying that as its the first time this has happened to me they will let me off. Apparanlty repeat offenders wont get away with it though. Fair enough imo because otherwise 2 of you could just share the same ticket.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

    Grrrrrr! WHO exactly? (crucial).

I don't agree with several of the above who had experiences of Councils exercising discretion. Good for them but IME about 80% chance of the result being the opposite.

Aha! It sounds like he's issued before you got back to the car from the ticket machine. Either that or he/she saw you go to buy the ticket?

Certainly throws up sufficient doubt about the CEO's obs skills, etc.

Worth an informal challenge and specifically request a copy of the CEO's contemporaneous notes.

(B'ham PCNs are substantially compliant BTW)

If you have already written - as you appear to indicate above - write again anyway to get the notes. I'll explain why when you tell me if they respond.
