If your local freecycle is a very active group I am sure you will find what you are looking for on there. Might also be worth looking at freecycle groups further afield that you wouldn't mind traveling to.
Best of luck with it.

I get free CD's from pigsback.co.uk - there is a huge thread about it on the Freebies section of this board:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=133532
It does require a bit of patience and perhaps signing up to newsletters to get points.
And another suggestion (perhaps a tad controversial - but totally legit) is to check out Tesco's for misprices on books/cds - see the thread here

I saw a McFly CD mispriced today which might be the sort of thing he would like.Quidco ~ £3,718 | Greasypalm ~ £354 | Freefivers ~ £45 | Pigsback ~ £260 shopping vouchers + 15 CDs
Total cashback / freebies / money-saving: 2006 ~ £3,961 | 2007 ~ 3,610 | 2008 ~ £4,159 | 2009 ~ £1,449

what a lovely thread with some very good suggestions, it may be worth posting a thread on the benefits board with their details to check if they are claiming everything they are entitled to

Have you tried local businesses and schools?, I know some places throw old computers away and with a bit of help could be stripped and reloaded. Also, Car boot Markets (I believe there is a couple of good ones in Coventry, Mercia, Holbrook lane and Centre 8T7) you may get a bargain.

The library does not only have free PC use but you can rent DVDs and CDs...oh and books too ! Also you can borrow toys from a toy library. Young carers run days out and events and socialising for kids in your friends grandsons position.. this could do him a lot of good. We have got a TV and a computer and monitor from the tip! ..£5.00 each...fully working order..fabulous!I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes
