But recently bought Hoover from Tesco which now keeps cutting out .. cannot find receipt .. CS said I could bring in CC bill and this would do, but CC doesnt actually state what was bought and as I bought other shopping at same time the amount is well over the cost of the hoover ... do you think this CC bill will be okay to exchange faulty hoover ?
They can print a copy receipt but to do so they need the exact time date and amount.
If they have just a date a credit card number or club card number helps them locate the transaction.
If your credit card slip shows the time and date it will be very easy for them..0 -
Have bought things from Debenhams and taken them back without my Nectar points been taken off.0

I had to take a microwave back to Argos and did not have the receipt. Took credit card bill in and they were able to check on the computer that they had sold one of those microwaves that day. Perhaps Tesco has a similar system.0

Tesco do not take the points back. 99% sure.
we have returned things in the past for genuine reasons and they havent asked for our clubcard at all. However if you start doing it with expensive items they may do.
and as somone said we have bought something just to get a bonus few hundred points and they were not deducted. But then it was on a very large shopping receipt.
If you returned something with just a couple of items on and bonus points they may say something.
as a rule i reckon you can get away with it:)

Debenhams automatically take off nectar points when they scan the barcode on the original receipt - You do not have to hand over your nectar card for them to do it.0 -

I've taken things back to comet and argos when I've lost the receipt but its on the cc bill. I think if the shop sells the items they think you are being honest anywayThe curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -

Good luck0 -

I thought MSE was about being clever not conniving.
I agree with you there!!
I think that's beyond money saving really and anyone trying to do this should be careful as a tampered receipt i.e cutting off parts of it could well make it void and you may not get your refund. So be careful.Envy is the most stupid of vices, for there is no single advantage to be gained from it.:A0 -
It's also obvious that you've done so as if you don't hand over an advantage card in Boots, it prints how many points you would have earned at the bottom of the receipt.0
