What does any company get out of running a competition? It's mostly just free advertising - I don't see the harm.
NB If, like me, you want to enter even though the link's been blocked make sure you "copy the link location" (firefox) and replace !!!s with !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tried .COM by mistake and it dumped me on freebiejeebies, which isn't running a competition but does look fair dodgy to me.

For exactly the reason's that giantmutantbroccoli has pointed out, which was why I have also previously given away an iPod Touch and a Wii Fit. None of the three competitions has affected (boosted) my affiaite income, I am intelligent enough to realise that people who read a competition entry board/thread will want to do just that and nothing more.

If you visit the other forum to which you referred in your other post, you will also see the amount I have given away in competitions and to generally help members there. Why? Because the web sites are my hobby, not my living, so I can afford to do so.

By contrast, what other purpose did you have when you joined MSE other than to make two posts that helped to ruin this thread?

The url is probably now on a swear filter. I could try and get around that by quoting it without spaces but, despite what some members may think, I respect the community and moderators here. Sorry.

PS - This wont be my last competition but after the direction this thread went in, I can't imagine the next one will be allowed to feature here. I sincerely apologise for that but it is out of my control, sorry.
