Great Best Places To Haggle Hunt

Maybe this could be moved to the post dedicated to haggling at top stores?0

This will also work with both PC World and Currys, as they are also part of DSG (Dixons stores group).
They make a packet on the coverplan (I used to work for them, the sales staff are really pressured to get coverplan sales in the till and often prefer not to sell something if there will be no cover plan with it).0 -

Ooh! I've been practising getting discounts purely because of this thread and just got a weekend's van hire hire with Thrifty knocked down from £120 to £100 just for asking!
Also got a couple of quid knocked of a light in Ikea because of the packaging, so whilst not strictly 'haggling' previous posters have certainly put the thought in my mind and given me a bit of extra confidence to save me some more money!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Went tp currys for washing machine they did a price match giving it to me for the same price online , but would not do free delivery as they could not find anywhere where it said free delivery. Can I print out a copy and go back to see if I can get free delivery.0

How does haggling work with ex-display/returned items in Comet? They often have these on the shelf, at a reasonable markdown, but is there more leeway with these items than with normal stock?
Any tips welcome, as I have my eye on a JVC THR-1 DVD recorder surround sound system. Full price £299, previously sold one - no box, looks unmarked £199. If I could get it for £175, I'd be very tempted.0 -
Have got a further discount in both currys and comet on ex display/last one type goods. Generally in the region of ten percent so I'm sure you should manage £25 off a £200 product. Actually in retrospect I think ten percent was a bit stingy - I wouldn't do them the favour of taking something off their hands like that without a much bigger discount these days.0

Hi there all \o My first post
Great deals are available on the web for mobile phones, but if you do go to the shop, you can get great discounts. My experience is with T-Mobile. me and my wife went into the T-Mobile shop to look for new phones (we'd been looking around for a while and knew what we wanted). The price the sales guy gave us was still a bit pricey and we were undecided whether to buy or not. Then he said he could call customer services from the store and we could speak to them to ask if we could get a better deal. We spoke to them and got around £100 extra off the cost of the phones between us! Apparently the staff in the stores can't authorise these discounts, but if you speak to the customer services, they can authorise it. Note that we'd been existing customers for 1 year.

Not sure I'd do is at it relies on being dishonest.
Yes - thanks for the referral back to the earlier thread. As you indicate, it's OK if you subscribe to what appears (from the earlier thread) to be the Martin Lewis "two wrongs do make a right" line of thought.
Not sure that I do, whatever we might think of a company like Dixons.
All somewhat dodgy advice IMHO.0
