Any Thoughts On Norton 360?

Looking for some advice. A friend of mine, at his own admission, knows nothing about computers, and it ended up riddled with viruses. I put lots of programs on it for him but he deleted all the anti-spyware ones!
To clean it of viruses he gave it to a PC whizz friend, who uninstalled everything I put on (including Comodo and AVG) put Norton 360 on it instead, and told him to use Mozilla rather than IE. However, he says he prefers using Internet Explorer.
I read bad reviews of Norton on here so I'd like your views?
I was going to put on his PC: Comodo Firewall, AVG Anti Virus, CCleaner, Spyware Blaster, Spybot, Ad Aware, SuperAntiSpyware, Malware Bytes, O&O Defragmenter and Tune Up Utilities. He thinks Norton 360 will keep him safer as it's an "all-in-one".

I've head that Norton 360 is a lot better than previous versions and isn't such a drain on resources.
I certainly wouldn't ditch Norton for AVG though, which is mediocre at best.0 -
not a fan of 360...but if it's on.....
avg 8....nah...
comodo firewall...this has been discussed here recently...does he really need it?
ccleaner..yep!
all the a/spy stuff...fill your boots...not my machine
O&O..fair enough...can't do any harm...I don't bother often though..
tune up utils....nah...not a chance
why not delete all links to IE...he obviously can't be trusted to be safe and sensible...and add noscript and adblock plus to firefox, tell him he has to learn. (he will need teaching how to use noscript safely and efficiently)Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
It's touch and go with norton really. I'm using 360 atm and it seemed fine until a couple of months ago when my system completely crashed and then norton wouldn't work after, then I seached online and found a solution to the problem and it's working fine now. I suspect the system crashing had something to do with a conflict with norton and something else but can't be too sure. But saying that, my computer seems to be clean of viruses and it has blocked attacks on my computer too.Minds are like parachutes - they only function when open.

Give it a scan with Malwarebytes.
I wouldnt use Norton. Id use PC TOOLS FIREWALL along with AVIRA anti virus personally.
SPYBOT and SPYWARE BLASTER too:idea:0 -
AVG:eek::eek::eek: Avira:cool::cool::cool:0

Yes....dont use it "BLOAT-WARE ALERT!"Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

Norton... AKA bloatware. Since 2003 I always found it way too heavy on system resources.
Here's my recommendations (All freeware)
Antivirus: Avast! http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng.exe
Home Edition is free requires registration though for a 14 month licence. Has a very handy and these days somewhat rare feature: The boot time scan.
Has rootkit and spyware / malware detection.
Firewall:
Zone Alarm. http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/1025_update/zaSetup_en.exe
An old favourite that till delivers the goods. If you are using a router you have a firewall built in. Just remember to switch it on! Some routers have the firewall disabled by default - crazy I know!
Run these 2 and you won't go too far off the straight n narrow,
PsiNear a tree by a river, there's a hole in the ground.

Thanks for your replies.
I should point out that it was AVG Anti-virus Free I use/was going to put on his PC, rather than the full version, not sure if that makes a difference. I've never had any problems with it along with my combination of other programs, but AVG seems to have divided opinions!
aliEnRIK, he doesn't seem keen on me adding any additional programs to his PC now his PC-buff friend has looked at it, but I'll suggest adding Malware Bytes.0
