Probably so's the same people don't keep cropping up on their winners list - which might look dodgy to outsiders.
Also, like they say - to give other people a fair chance. The Rock Chick, she say 'courtesy costs nowt' - spread the word!0 -
Hiya, just a quick question about absolute radio competitions if people dont mind?!
I was lucky enough to win a Netbook the other day, (for which I can thank kipper enough - it will be very useful for my partners uni course!!) but I have received an email today confirming that I had won the prize, as I was previously notified by phone, and there was the following sentence that surprised me;
"Thank you for taking the effort to enter this competition. In accordance with the Absolute Radio's terms and conditions, please refrain from taking part in all Absolute Radio competitions for a period of six months. This will allow a fair and even opportunity for thousands of other listeners who have never won a prize on the station."
Is this a normal thing to have in their terms and conditions? I have already entered a few more competitions before I received this, so do my entries get rejected out of hand? I do agree that it would be nice if the prizes were spread out between more people, but to me 6 months of not entering their competitions seems excessive!
What are peoples opinions?
Its been the same rule since they were Virgin Radio, it only applies to those that have won a prize worth more than £150
Employees of Absolute Radio and other TIML group companies and any company associated to the specific competition and their families are not eligible to enter the competition. Anyone who has won a prize within the last six months on an Absolute Radio station or absoluteradio.co.uk valued at £150 or more shall not be eligible to enter the competition, nor shall any member of such person's family nor members of the same household (including, but not limited to, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents etc).
So be wary entering a partner for a comp now if they live in the same house.0 -
I had the same exclusion when i won an ipod touch, from absolute radio,
i also won a holiday from heart fm, which means as heart is buying up most of the Al mac list of stations, i just dont enter the radio comps anymore.
Its fair enough, it gives others a chance xxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -

I agree with spread the wealth, but did you wait the whole six months if you dont mind me asking?
I think it's a fair policy - there are plenty of other comps to keep you going for the 6 months!Al Mac Appreciation Society (AMAS) member # 6½

I won a huge prize with Virgin Radio 2 years ago and was asked not to enter for a year! I was a good girl & didn't. I've been entering again for the last 12 months & haven't won a bean (so maybe they have a sneaky list of prevous winners :rotfl:)Thanks to all who post comps :A :T0

Ahhhh well thanks for everyone's help, it is a good idea in theory that means the prizes get shared between more people! But imagine if that becomes popular and more and more sites starting saying big winners would not be able to enter again for a large amount of time!
Mind you it would mean there's less competitions to enter, so you'd be finished in twice the time!2010 Running Total - £8

Littletigerpress do the same - only they specify a year in the T&C's

Hi, can anyone advise me if its ok to enter the ITV comps until the writing says you have exceeded your daily amount, I always keep going until it says this but am now aware that others only enter 4 times or count exactly to 5 so as not to see the writing, have I invalidated my entries for months without knowing or is it ok to do it that way?Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Hi, I believe that they just discount all your entries after the fifth one rather than invalidate all of them?
I think anyway, I dont know if anyone with a bit more knowledge knows it any different?2010 Running Total - £8
