The fact is i(and many others) are too ill to work(was not even able to work when married) so have not paid enough NIstamps to claim IB?ESA so just claim IS as a lone parents. I moved over from IS based on being a lone parent back in 2007 when i heard about the new ESA. Nothing has changed i have not suddenly become ill to avoid working it is just that claiming as a lone parents comes higher on the list for IS than claiming via illness. So it is not a case to trying to avoid work it is knowing your limitaties. I want to keep my daughter living with me which when i am very ill i can't do she has to go to my parents and have to work means being very ill again ending up in hospital and losing my child, is that really fair.
But why would anyone claim IS as a lone parent if they are too ill to work anyway? Doesn't claiming IS on grounds of disability give extra benefits? I was under the impression it did.0 -
Of Course I Dont Condone It But A Lot Of Us Are In This Situation Through No Fault Of Our Own And I Certainly Cant Fabricate Whats Wrong With Me Just Get The Impression That You Are A Lone Parent Hater Regardless Of Their Situation There Is PlentY Of People Like You About !!
You are missing my point entirely and shouting at me won't improve things! If you are a genuine claimant then you should disapprove of people manipulating the system just as much as I do. Just because you're a lone parent doesn't mean that you have to condone the bad practices of others.
Far from hating lone parents, I've spent large parts of my life helping them. Unfortunately that means that I've seen both the genuine and the manipulative in my time.0 -

Obviously this is true in some cases but the numbers moving from one to the the other, as well as the timing of these moves, rather indicates that many people aren't as genuine as you are.0 -

I have always got DLA so got the extra premiums anyway so there was not point in putting in a claim for something you know you can't get. Why put yourself through all that stress for nothing.0 -

Getting DLA doesn't mean you can't work and I would have thought nothing at all to do with ESA or IS on grounds of disability.0 -

As i already stated i dont condone the behaviour of some of the lone parents but i do know one thing how can a person fabricate an illness in order to claim benefits, you need a sick note or med certificate from a doctor, these doctors are not allowed to lie on a sick note they would be struck of they did so cant see why you keep saying that people fabricate an illness in order to claim a benefit !!It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.0 -

Oh dear you are a bit of an innocent aren't you?
Should I need one I bet I could have a medical certificate from my doctor tomorrow saying I have a bad back, depression, stress related illness etc.
All the information about signs and symptoms is readily available on the internet.
Stick around on MSE for a while and you will know all the dodges.0 -

well i knew my instincts were right from the start you sad people must just hang around on here waiting to slate off every lone parent that dares put a post on here, 3 replies in less than what 5 mins, the first person didnt even bother reading my message properly, i only put post on initially asking for help then all of a sudden you get all the stuck up people posting snotty comments, you basically brand all lone parents the same its obvious i can hold my head up as i know i am not like that at all !It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.0
