Hmmm...just had a call from insurance company to say they are about to pay me my £350 for stress and inconvenience. Plus they had a look at the other out of pocket expenses again and will cover £2250 of that as per the loss adjusters previous letter (total was £4237) plus they will up the £750 originally agreed in 2007 towards the bridge to £1000 (which won;t cover the engineer fees but at least is better than nothing). Total £3600.
So glad I held off submitting my claim to the Ombudsman this weekend as I will now have to reduce the consequential loss figure I'm claiming to a tad below £60k!!:rotfl::rotfl:
Weather still very changeable here - spent yesterday trying to clear floor and shelf space in the study as too wet to go out. Oh well, just means more of the garden to do when Numpty's here
Grommie is off to the vets this afternoon....heard him wheezing this morning and found him very still and being guarded by Fleure again which is not a good sign. However once I'd booked him in (with his favourite vet Aunty Ro).... he then decided to fully recover and chase Fleure round the cage making randy noises.....think he either has a split personality or got an overdose of Lula's happy dust
Right think it's now time to tackle the Ombudsman form.

Hi Wol
You would have been proud of me today - I stood up in front of 150 strangers and told them about me and my business:eek: I was a chamber new member induction and the speaker had us standing up and sitting down for various reasons as to why we joined the chamber and I was the only person left standing when it came to other reasons, so I immediately asked if my prize would be free membership:rotfl: which raised a laugh and then I was told that I had to say who I was, what I did, why I did it and what the other reasons for joining the chamber were. I even had a round of applause - now I am wondering if I am in the right job, maybe I should be an orator:rotfl: Mind you I did get some contacts - one guy, an accountant came and shook my hand and wished me well because at least I had the desire to get off the dole and be my own boss...he told me to call him any time:D
Well done on prizing some more money out of the insurance people and maybe one day I will find my way to East Grinstead...now I wonder if there is a train from Birmingham?0 -
Wow Horace
You go girl! Well done as it must have been a bit nerve racking in front of all them strangers.....
You certainly have the gift of the gab....and brilliant to ask for free membership :rotfl::rotfl:
You could try after-dinner speaking (but might need to go on the Apprentice first to get a bit of publicity so you can put your prices up
Birmingham to Reading, Reading to Gatwick via Guildford.........;)

Well Grommie seems to have an upper airways inflammatory condition caused by a new bale of hay that is obviously very dusty/mouldy. So he's been given a dose of anti-inflammatory by the vet (Wol waves goodbye to another £30) and will be given antibiotics for the next few days to stave off any subsequent bacterial infection.
Which just goes to show that opting for a money-saving bale of hay at £4.50 instead of paying a fortune for nice plastic-wrapped better quality small animal hay (equivelent price for a bale about £50 ) is not necessarily a cost saving...if >1 guinea gets airway problems......need to rethink .....
Oohhhh and :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: - rat popped out of bag of guinea pig cage litter as i was lifting it into the dustbin this afternoon...scuttled away round my ankles (talk about dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy :rotfl::rotfl:).....and then the little s*d came back for another go later.......
So looks like they've come down to nest earlier this year.....sigh......mental note to buy more resealable foodbags and bait in Homebase this week.......plus get another dustbin..

Rats...you've got rats:eek: The best way to deal with them is bash them on the head with a shovel:rotfl:
I think I might apply to do the Apprentice next year - well I can't do any worse than the bunch of twonks who are already on it (I wouldnt give them a job sweepiing my floors:eek:)
Mind you I was asked today at a meeting "why will clients come to you/" my answer because I was already bored "I am the best":rotfl: In fact I was asked a similar question this morning by a girl from a firm that dealt with asbestos only hers was "where do you see your business going?" I replied that I wanted to be the best corporate event organiser in the world, already I am trying to get myself onto some international trips with the chamber:D Look, I was always taught if you don't ask you don't get:D0
