hi Wol
missed the drama with the guinea pig, but glad to see that he is ok (he always seems randy, does that mean there are more gp's on the way or do you get them spayed)
hope by now that you have got a nice fat amount in your bank account, and that is as much as you were asking for.
is the bridge building part of the insurance claim, or is that something else (have lost track a bit sorry)
and woohoo for getting more work in february and getting your tax return in
take care
chev
Yoo hoo Chev
Yep Grommie is always randy, has all his bits intact and is father (intentional) to quite a few of my piggies including bad boy Beechie....but Fleure his mate is spayed.
Some of the piggies live in single sex pairs ( Muffin and Pebble who are mother/daughter; Bailey and Charlie who are father/son and Maple and Willow who are brothers). Although Beechie boy is also brother to Maple and Willow, he started fighting in his teens so had to be separated from them- and unfortunately he won;t settle with any other guinea either - not even a female.
I also have Iroko and Bandit, both males, brought up in the same cage but who both now live separately after Bandit started rogering Iroko something chronic :eek:and then Iroko temporarily lost his teeth in a fight when he objected to Bandit's advances. (Obviously I am still hoping that Iroko will manage to woo Piglet's guinea pig Speedy so at least he will have an internet mate
)
If a piggie has to have an anaesthetic (very risky) for any reason then I normally opt to have them "done" at the same time hence I have two mixed pairs (Grommie/Fleure and Whisp/Ginger) and Auntie Smashed now has the third mixed pair (Pierrot and Garibaldi)...and ...
......no no no heaven forbid..... .....no plans for any more babies..... because as you can see from the geneology above, they're just so cute when they're babies and all such lovely diffferent colours (chocolate, honey, red, black, sable) that I can't face giving them away and end up keeping them all
Hugs to you

Hi Wol!
First time poster on your thread, which I can't quite believe. I've just read through this, I think I was prompted by finally realising that you live in Sussex ... I'll pm you about that.
You've had *such* a lot to deal with, I'm horrified at what you've suffered, and amazed you can still do things like have business breakfasts. Can you say what it is you do? Never mind if not
I feel for you about the guineas - very tough when a loved one is suffering like that - and you managed to stay up to make sure he was safe! :A definitely.
Hi Karmacat
Thanks for posting.......have to admit it has taken me 12 months to feel confident about going "back out into the business world" ....and I am still nowehere near as thick skinned as I used to be..:o ..hence why I wasn't too happy after the recruitment consultant's conversation.
I currently am self employed and work with public sector business support organisations/prorgames assisting them with clients from the biomedical and healthcare sectors. I advise on business and sales strategy, help the companies write business plans and raise funding and I also do pro-bono business mentoring. What I need to do now is go back into private sector work although finding it may be a bit difficult in the recession - however companies need sales at this time and I am a very good salesperson  ...so hopefully .........
Got your Pm thanks Hun- will reply later....
Hope all is OK in your neck of the woods...

Glad to hear about Grommie.
Good news about the tyres too, most companies would have got you to change them just to get the money out of you, I'm always wary about going to garages cos they always seem to try and take advantage of me.
Glad the business breakfast went well.
Hi Ames
Too true about garages - my dealership garage charged me a fortune to put two tyres on the car after they serviced it a couple of years ago and refused to return it without new tyres as they were over the limit. Yet my local tyre place have always been absolute diamonds.......
Ho'ws it going for you at the moment Hun?
Not long til Manchester...and I will make sure I get the tyres before I make the journey

Aww how lovely to hear all about the piggies, they are brilliant little characters aren't they?
Your work sounds really interesting - too right that companies need sales, so I'm sure you will be in demand!

I'm doing good thanks, a lot of things seem to have just fallen into place lately, my sleep pattern's back to normal, I'm keeping up to housework, losing weight...
I know what you mean about keeping the babies, when I was a kid we bred hamsters a couple of times and I just wanted to keep them all!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
I've only read the original post as I don't have time to read all the replies right now (at work lol). However, this is utterly shocking!
Who is your insurance company? Name and shame!
Secondly, am I reading this right - the insurance company arranged for builders who did a completely shoddy job, that's got to be re-done. And yet the builders STILL want paying? On top of paying the new builders??!
This story is outrageous - if it was me I'd be contacting Watchdog and the papers.
Not sure if you've done it already but you can complain to the Financial Ombudsman about insurance companies:

Hi Sarah
Thanks for your concern and the details of the Ombudsman. I have already instigated the formal complaints procedure but have to (a) reach a settlement with the builders and then (b) give the insurance company the right of final response before I involve the Ombudsman any further. and yes, it is shocking..it's a long story with many confusing twists and turns.and to be fair it's not all the insurance company's fault directly..it's the "system" ....so I have to follow procedure before I can either go to the media or resort to litigation....and therefore won;t be posting any further details publicly atm.
The main issue that I won;t be letting rest (once my claim is sorted and my house restored) is that the insurers (at least in my case) don;t sign the contracts with the builders/landlords etc...it is you the claimant who signs them and who therefore ends up legally liable if payments aren't made/witheld etc....therefore it is now up to me (or rather my surveyor) to reach a settlement with the builders before I can proceed to put pressure on the insurance company in any counterclaim/complaint etc.....
In the mean time.....you guys on here keep me going....many thanks for your support......
