Hi Maytaurus -I'm not really following you! I just wanted to thank you for the link to the Fistula Hospital. I watched a programme only recently about this awful condition, which moved me to tears. It would be great to help and so easy when all they are asking for is old tights. I have loads and will get a parcel up together to send.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

HOW TO RECYCLE OLD TIRES INTO GARDEN PLANTERS

I have seen countless versions of these over the years but none so eyecatching, these would be a good idea for those of us trying to grow our own veggies, especially with the current reccession.Pucker up and kiss it Whoville! - The Grinch:kiss:0 -
Haven't got far with this idea but thought that recycling kids tights into crazy ski hats would be good. Chop off toe part and sew up to stop unravelling, Knot the legs and leave remainder as a tail and then stick on top of head. My dd walks around home all the time with her yet undoctored tights on her head!!0

maytaurus - thanks for those links. I've done the recycled car tyres before but had no idea old tights could serve such a good use.:j
