None of the articles have clarified exactly what will happen. There are to be financial incentives for parents to sort out their own arrangements, but difficult cases are to remain with a 'parred down' agency.
Parents with care who are on benefits are to receive more of the money given by the NRP.

It is all quite vague, and given the track record of the govt on child support, is likely to cause more alarm than reassurance.

So do you get £200 a month or £216.66?

Well the CSA has done nothing for me. I split up with the ex when the kiddies were 5, 3 and 1 ~ they are now 13, 11 and almost 9 and I have not received a penny from him. One time I asked him to pay towards the kiddies winter coats and was told to 'go to hell'.
Baring in mind he deliberately crashed his car into a wall and is now 'disabled' and gets more in dla, income support, housing and council tax benefits each month than my husband gets for working 37 hours a week as a manager of a care home.
The CSA sucked and only benefited the fathers who werent willing to pay by allowing them to get away with it. Good riddance to it. Hopefully TB will bring in a system that is fair to willing fathers and cracks down on d*ckheads like my ex. (well we can but live in hope, unrealistic as that may be!)

when they did mine yrs ago, I was unemployed and daughter was then preschool. they awarded me less than 300 per month and £ for £ it was deducted from the benefits I recieved at the time which totaled aboit £320 p.m so basically my daughter did not benefit if anything she lost out as prior to their intervention he paid £100 each month - not a lot but made a difference and he paid for shoes clothes etc as there was no way I could do that and feed us and pay house bills. I defy anyone in the csa to live on £320 pm with child.

    Not a pleasant time ...............

It says" Ministers agree that many parents will be happy to make their own arrangements as it will cut bureaucracy"what about the parents who are dodging the CSA and dont want to pay? isnt tha the whole reason for the CSA? I will be watching this one closely.

They worked out that the maintainence my ex had to pay for our 2 sons was £0 despite him having a well paid job. We have been stuck in the old system for about 4/5 years & received nothing. I would've been happy with just a few pounds if that was all he could afford, the CSA have let us down big time.

Agreed. Ever since parting from my ex four years ago he has done everything possible to evade paying correct child support. He is probably in the category the govt. would deem responsible ... he is a head teacher.
  • That's what I understood the CSA were for but instead they're too busy making partners, who genuinly can't afford the amount they demand, lives hell. Wwell, let's see what this new 'reform' is. Another dive I figure
