Unfortunately we use the same word "child" for someone of both a young age and also generally for an offspring.
Caring (in the sense of looking after and providing for) is right and proper for a child in the young senses but not necessarily in the offspring sense!
When children become adults and adults become elderly the caring for an providing roles may often be reversed, which is the way it should be.
This is a general comment and not necessarily referrig to the OP.0 -

yes I know. My point was she is happy to stretch the benefit income to accomodate him, unless there is a drop in the benefits because he is there. Seems like everyone will be happy, son gets rent free accomodation.0 -
i know that at any point in my life if i needed to then my parents would help me and accept me living with them if necessary, i would assume that if i was to live with them again i would automatically make a contribution.
i am still their "child" no matter how old i get, (and yes sometimes that is annoying but thats life!) and if they ever need my help then i will be there for them (which should surely go without saying although unfortunately i know nowadays it doesn't).
can we get back on topic now?
Mardatha, you'd probably be best off calling the dwp and asking the question of them.

What has this got to do with the topic?
you were clearly out of order and have just just cut and pasted a reply.
are you not "man" enough to explain yourself?0 -

a. I'm female
b. I've cut and pasted nothing and can't see why you should think so
c. I was replying generally and to to ifonlyitwas easier's comment, rather than the OP's
d. This is an open forum and, as long as replies are courteous (as mine was),there's no reason why posts shouldn't diverge a bit
e. What's your interest in the matter and what are you adding to the discussion?0
