OH's parents bought us this http://www.robertdyas.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10051&storeId=10001&productId=62703&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=16701 for Christmas.
I have used it three times and have noticed that food is getting stuck on the sides, I have to stir several times but still get burnt on food/stuck bits.
Prior to this model I have used my Grandma's old Tower Economy model and never had food sticking with this, but then food NEVER simmered away in it, like it does in my new one.
I thought the whole point of slow cooking is to have food cooked slowly between 6-10 hours. My dishes seem done in 4 on a low setting.
Is there a fault with this do you think, or is it just the model.
If anyone else has this one I would also appreciate to know your experiences.
Many thanks

Hi bailey... I'd post this on the "Old Style" board... there's tonnes about slow cookers on there.....:)0

What wattage is it? ive heard some can be upto 650, although mine is about 150, so i would assume that if its a high vaultage, it would cook quicker!

Please could one of the moderators move this over to the Old Style board, yes I really should have posted it there. I have tried to cut and paste it but the page won't load, despite trying 3 times.
Thank you.0 -
Are you sure that your cooking it on low? My slow cooker doesnt make it very clear which setting is high and which is low and it took me a while to work it out. It sounds as though yours is working a bit faster than most slow cookers do.0

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I had the same problem with my old slow cooker. Even the low setting was quite hot and everything would be bubbling away to nothing in it. It just seems to be a problem with certain ones.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I think they're all faster these days than the old ones. Mine does things at such a speed in low that it would have been "high" on my old one.
When I use an old book I use their timing for high in the low mode on mine.
Burning stuff though - sounds very wrong, even so.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Mine cooks quite quickly too, I could never go out for the day or leave it on overnight, it would be dry. I just try to work around it, it bubbles quite quickly even when on low but I guess it's cheaper than having the oven on for a couple of hours. It's only a few months old and is the Rosemary Conley one.0

Maybe its just how the modern ones work then, however my Mum has the MR one and although it bubbles on low, she doesn't get food sticking to the sides.
Last night the sausages poking out of the top of the casserole, browned off and one had turned not quite black in colour but very dark.......again I was surprised.0 -
If you aren't happy with your SC, then why not contact the manufacturer for advice?? I'm not sure who makes the Paul Rankin ones, but it should be on your instructions somewhere.
