Thanks I ordered. I used TopCashBack so I will be very happy if I get the £5 back. Just think you can pay £5 just for the SIM card on ebay.

Just to let you know I got mine today. Still have to register it so I don't know how much free credit there is (if any) also TCB is still not showing, but I will leave it a bit to show.

I am very pleased with it its very basic and the screen is not amazing but its the perfect knockaround phone instead of using my XDA. All I need to do is work out what I am doing. I think I might just stick £10 on there and wait for my O2 sim to come instead of using the Orange SIM as the main one.
  • I rang up to register mine on Thursday after work. There's £1.00 credit on the phone. Unfortunately I'm still waiting to be connected to the network(can take up to 48 hours). Luckily I just bought it as a backup mobile so I don't need to use it at the moment. Nice little phone for a fiver though.

I phoned up and registered this morning all when fine, told her it was from Orange Online etc... Waited 2 hours and nothing. I have never had a SIM update take so long so I phoned up again and said I think the phone bar is still on, so she took all my details again and removed the bar. Restarted the phone and its all working.

It seems yours still has the bar in place.

When you register the phone with the Indian call centre there seems to be a delay in removing the transit bar, although the SIM updates are sent. I proved this by buying two A62's and then putting the SIM cards in another phone. They immediately received the updates and worked although the A62's remained barred.

The next day I rang Orange in the UK and they were able to lift the bar and the handsets started working immediately. I guess it would have taken longer if I hadn't rung as I don't think the Indian people can lift the bar, only request Orange UK to do it when they are ready.

    Hope this helps.

  • Haven't had the SIM updates sent yet either. I'll give it till Monday (as it's just a backup phone) and then if nothing has happened by then I'll give Orange a ring.

You will only see the SIM updates if you put your SIM in another unlocked or Orange phone. The bar that Orange place on the A62 is effectively a blacklisting which means it won't even connect to the Orange network until the blacklisting is removed at Orange HQ. Therefore it won't allow the SIM to receive any updates at all whilst in that phone.
