I wouldn't be surprised if the slight variants in the model numbers is all a guise to prevent price matches.

Comet have the 'A' variant and curries have the 'B' variant.
It means they can both be the exclusive stockists of each (even though they are the same TV) and shout 110% price match safe in the knowledge they are the only stockists (so it can't happen).

I don't think there is anything wrong with the Samsung, but Panasonic are the market leaders in practically ALL review sites.

If the Samsung was up against the hundreds of unheard of names, it would be the Samsung.

with the model number ending slightly different in the end - This is due to 2 main reasons...

Most salesmen will tell you "the A / B etc means there's a slightly different chip or board inside the TV"

Some cases this is true... but 90% it's to stop pricematching..

However - Comet did price match mine and several other items.... I'm not an idiot, I explained this to them and for them to stop fobbing me off.... They accepted I was right and matched it!

I think you'll find Currys stock the BA model too, but often just shortern the code on tickets. I know the currys store I work in sells the BA anywhoo.

As for the salesman telling you samsung are better he is either a liar or stupid...prehaps both, but samsungs are more profitable.

Ok, we ordered Panasonic today as there are non in stock at the moment in any of the stores!

I am sure they get more for selling Samsung: while in the shop, I looked at the salesmen 'leading' people to samsungs. For example, a couple is looking at panasonic, sony or any other TV, the salesman comes around, asks if he can help and after a minute or two you see all three of them waling to Samsungs. And that wasn't just once in 15 mins I stayed around there! Ok, so our TV should be arriving on January 19th! Now, just need to get a stand!

When I brought my TV last year I visited quite a few retailers and I met a nice chap at one of the big retailers who told me that LG and Samsung get recommended as there are bigger profit margins for the company.;)

He told me to go for a Panasonic Plasma or if I wanted LCD, the Sony W or V Series ones. Nice to meet a honest salesman for once, don't think he will be there long.

So you are not imagining things as I noticed this to.

Empire direct have some very nice stands and are quite cheap.

You now have time to either improve your roof aerial, or look into Freesat / Sky/ Sky HD.

Well, we got TV delivered yesterday!!!! It looks very good. And what a surprise we got - we can see all the Freeview channels as well!!!!! Our old TV would show poor picture of the 5 analogue channels, and the Humax freeview box would only get a handful of freeview channels (surprisingly, only BBC4 of all BBCs, Five, and a few of others, but no ITV1 or Ch4!).

So, no need to improve the aerial!

Was very please, until last night a green vertical line appeared!!! It seems like the panel is faulty and we need to start using warranty after just ~7 hours of viewing it! Still, picture is good even with the green line!
