Ok so I have started my lovely new job - i'm so happy to have work at last!!!
I am starting on £5.85 (I am 25) it will go up to £6.17 after 6 months.
There are good bonus opportunities - 15% a month extra if you pass your mystery shopper test, and a possible 15% every 3 months with the stocktaking...
No overtime rate - only extra is for bank holidays £2 per hour extra.
After working for tesco for a year you get a priviledge card which gives 10% discount on most purchases over £3. It doubles up as your clubcard, you can save up to a max of £675 a year....
Hope that helps. Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!0 -

You still don't see it do you, even though someone else pointed it out to you. Try reading post #52 again.PRINCESSX87 wrote: »Ok " Mr know it all " i was wrong, i said advice, when she asked for information! my bad!
My point is you miss-understand things. You miss-understood what the OP wanted and you miss-understood my post.PRINCESSX87 wrote: »I was under the impression that this was a forum for all, and everyone can speak clearly and freely about what they liked! Thats all i done, even if you dont like it!
Unfortunately you miss-understood the forum tooPRINCESSX87 wrote: »I dont belong to any group! of people as some have made that clear as i have different views, All i'm saying is, if everyone takes the same attitude as you then no wonder we have unruly teenagers, As for every 10 bad ones 2 good one's get tied with the same brush!
By "tied" I'll assume you meant "tarred". If you want my opinion on tarring people with the same brush then look at this post I made yesterday (post #13), but before you read it you should know it is an attack on someone "tarring people with the same brush" but don't in a sarcastic way.

You wouldn't like me as a teacher, I went to school in the 60's. Back in those days you got the cane for the least little thing, and if you were stupid enough to let your parents find out you got a belting off them too because you must deserve it.
If I were a teacher it would go back to that.0 -

Congratulations on getting your job. But, check with your Manager as I've worked for Tesco for nearly 5 years and do not know of any bonuses paid to staff, until you reach manager levels. Priviledge card now comes after 6 months of service and the current annual spend for discount is £7,500 (10%) discount is £750 off your shopping.:beer:0 -
I checked with my manager - those are the possible bonuses - the tesco i work in is an express store - maybe that makes a difference.
Still enjoying the work - find the short shifts quite easy and not too tiring - loving it really and lots of lovely overtime!!Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!0 -
I know nothing about any bonus been working there since the store opened the rate of pay goes up every year with inflation I get about £650 a month arround that can't remember exactly without checking a pay slip I work right up to 10pm on a saturday but get paid no extra0

geordie_joe wrote: »Nobody has mentioned age! If you are 22 or over they wage is £5.73 or more. FACT!
Why on earth would anyone ever work for less than the minum wage (regardless of their age)??! :rotfl:
Hasn't the whole age-scales for minum wage been abolished even i thought??
Since if theres a job to be done it will be the same job, same duties, same everything regardless of the age of the person chosen to do it...,
and therefore it would have to be advertised at a certain salary (at lowest the £5.73 minimum wage rate).
And so then even if a 16year comes along for an interview and gets that advertised job surely they would get the rate of pay that was advertised too??
Otherwise the shops and factories would just be full of young teenagers,
as cost saving for the companies. :rotfl::rolleyes:0 -
Just because 5.73 is minimum for yous doesn't mean its same..a quick check on google will tell there is different limits, employers can pay you according to your age, I'm 21 so my rate is about a fiver..not all teenagers are the same..there are some old folks who are worse than us,seen more older people in papers for crimes..anyway how do you apply for tesco? Supposedly lidls pay the most0

Having just read the initial post and the whole thread, I would like to express my congratulations to the OP for getting the job she was wanting.
:T
I would also like to congratulate everyone who helped make this thread both entertaining and informative. In some ways I do feel a little sorry for the HC poster, but I think her comments invited the flaming that followed.
