  • Stop all this messing around and come and work for the best supermarket . . . . Sainsbury's. We don't only pay really well (and we pay for breaks when Tesco doesn't!) but we also care about our people and are generally recruiting currently whereas Tesco are making people redundant I've heard. Look on the website at sainsburys.co.uk and then search under the careers link. PS look in last weeks Saturday Telegraph and you will see Sainsbury's came aout as the cheapest of the 3 main supermarkets for food shopping so the staff discount makes us untouchable. Forget about Tesco. All the best for the future, good lcuk.

I worked for Tesco for 11 years and then moved to JS I stayed for 8 months i'm now back with Tesco. That should tell you something. After working for both I would say ........
If you don't really care and want to work for a bunch of amateurs playing shops then JS is for you
If you are driven and have a passion for retail and to be at the cutting edge and market leaders and innovaters Join Tesco

Woohoo - I walked into a tesco express and talked my way into a job - i'm so happy happy - 3 months of being on the dole at an end!!

I didn't even ask what they pay - I don't care - i just want to be back working!!

I'm sure the pay goes up as you stay with them and show you can do your job well as with most places....
Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!

Supermarkets pay you more the longer you've been with them? first i heard that. i get min wage. only time that increases is if min wage increases and ive been there 7 or 8 years now. (no sunday overtime either, that got phased out) mind you.... its not tesco i work for.

oh and whats this about some companys pay their checkout operators more than shop floor workers? is that true!? ive worked both checkouts and shop floor, shop floor has more work involved... so surely not? maybe i'm mistaken just thought i read that somewhere.
  • This info might be bit out of date, but Tesco will increase your wages after you've been there for 6 months. I don't have the figures, so I'm not sure how much it goes up by. Any current Tesco staff able to fill us in?

Congrats on finding a job, Treacle!

It should also be noted that teenagers tend to hang around street corners drinking, taking drugs and stabbing people, therefore they should be locked up from the age of 13 until they are 28.

I think you must have said that before thinking when you posted the reply!
I'm 21, I have never asked the gov for anything other then once and even then got told no!

I have always worked, went to college, and paid taxs. on my own, worked with older people, and children and even started my own business to continue my love of working

I have never:- stabbed, shot, anybody. Sold drug, or delt them, mugged anyone, or robbed a old girl for her pension. Or even hung around street corners

Oh and just to add, i have spelling problems, But my english is better then good.

So does that mean that i should be "banged" up just because most teenagers are idiots?

I understand that the person was being stupid, but you are the type of person that would hang someone before hearing the FACTS! And no wonder why so many more "teenagers" are turning to these gangs, because most people these days tie us all with the same brush!

Hope this does not cause a stink!

Nope, I thought carefully first, but I bet you posted your reply withought reading the whole thread, or even the post I was replying to when I wrote the above.

I was replying to something a 17 year old girl said, which was.

I have always worked, went to college, and paid taxs. on my own,

That's an impressive work record, left school at 16 or 17, are now 21 and you've aways worked.

I left school at 16 and have always worked too. The difference is, I'll be 50 in June.

If everyonein debt is fat, stupid and of a lower class then yes.
I understand that the person was being stupid, but you are the type of person that would hang someone before hearing the FACTS!

Why do kids have to write the word facts in Uppercase all the time?
Hope this does not cause a stink!

Then why drag up an old thread, quote one bit out of context and attack it. Why pick on me for lumping all teenagers together and not Haleyco for lumping everyone who is in debt together and putting them down.

I understand this, and yes i did read all the post and thats why i said that the other poster was an idiot.

So want you mean is then, one fool, and every teenager gets the blame?
sounds to me like you work for the labour gov.!

That's an impressive work record, left school at 16 or 17, are now 21 and you've aways worked.

I think you should not jump the gun, I left school for very personal reasons at 14, and have worked since then!

I left school at 16 and have always worked too. The difference is, I'll be 50 in June.

Then you should know better, then letting a stupid, 17 yr old rattle your cage. And get your back up!

I'm in debt, and working my !!!!! off, Still paying the gov, bills, rent ect.

You lost your rag, with her over a comment she made, She is 17 for god sake.
Like another poster put, she will not have debts, as she is too young so she has not had to face life yet. Instead of just telling her to stop posting or report her, You brought everyone into (well teenagers)

Why do kids have to write the word facts in Uppercase all the time?

I did because clearly people these days wanted the word FACT brought into.
(By the way i am no kid!)

Then why drag up an old thread, quote one bit out of context and attack it. Why pick on me for lumping all teenagers together and not Haleyco for lumping everyone who is in debt together and putting them down.[/quote]

I picked on you as was the one, i believe did not think before posting your ad, As for hayleyco- i would have just reported her!
As i think thats the grown up way of doing things

To the op, Sorry this is going on, A friend of mine does full-time hours in tescos mini-store, and it depends on wages:

    Hours you do,
    over-time,
    weekends,
    M shopper.

I asked and she said anything from around £5.75 under 18 and £7.50 over 21?
But dont quote me on that!
    Hope this helps
