£120 fine for 1 minute 32 seconds!

My husband pulled into a bus restricted area, at 6.45am on Monday morning in London WC2, he pulled in front of a building he was due to be working at, then put his hazards on until someone from the building showed him how to get to the rear of the building... He was there a total of 1 minute 32 seconds.

During the 1 minute 32 seconds he was there Camden council took 4 pictures of him arriving, parked and leaving, and have wacked us with a £120 fine and if we don't pay it in 21 days it goes up to £180!

Does anyone think we should appeal, I did call today and was told "TOUGH".

  • Oh yes and my husband did not leave his vehicle...

So is that classed as stopped/parking?

Stopping on a bus stop or stand at any time for any period is a contravention unless in emergency.
Your statement that it was 1.32 - was the based on the pics or was he timing himself???

you have the payment periods completely wrong. That is not what the PCN says.

What are your planned grounds for appeal?

The pictures show him arriving at 06.45.20, the second picture parking at 06.45.26, the third picture 06.45.31 with hazards on then leaving at 06.46.52, a total time of 1 minute 32 seconds!! start to finish..

Pay up and save £60. It's a bus lane and he wasn't driving a bus!

The bus lane doesn't start till 7am they have sent the picture to prove that!

That is what I am asking advice for!!, A parking attendant once told me that the offence had to be comitted for over a certain time, but that was 2 years ago!

Actually you asked if you should appeal. I assumed you had decided on what grounds.

It doesn't answer the question does it? How long was he there? I'm trying to help and stop you kidding yourself with an emotive stance.

Errr - where did 'bus lane' come into it? I thought you said bus retricted area - I tokk this to mean bus stop/stand?
On the latter as I said - no stopping so no chance on that angle.

as I said earlier, you have already misread the PCN so it is worth showing it - ALL of it - other Camden postal ones a flawed.

He was there for 1 minute 30 seconds,....

The bus lane was something another poster mentioned, he was not on a bus lane, this is quite clear in the picture, they have just sent pictures of the street. Apparently it was in a bus stop area. This is not shown on any pictures though.

And as for the bus lane, we are fully aware of those, since he received a £120 fine 12 months ago by moving into a bus lane to let an ambulance pass, and even though on pictures it was seen the ambulance passing lots of vehicles in the bus lane, we still paid, needless to say now, we DO NOT move into bus lanes for anyone anymore!!!! They must have made over a grand just from vehicles being kind hearted and letting the ambulance pass!
