cheapest places for AI are tunisia, ,bulgaria and your long hauls....mexico, cuba etc, ive done a/i in them all and would recommend them. Carribbean is by far my favourite A/I destination as the quaility is so good but i doubt it would be in your budget.

Trouble with March is that the pool will probably still be cold unless it is heated. We stayed AI in SAS Radison in Sharm a few years ago, good value, even the beach bar and barBQ were free, local gin was awful though!0

Have you though about doing a cruise, they are almost AI, just need to pay for drinksm, and would fit into your budget if soing a last min deal.0

We're looking at Egypt but are open to ideas really so long as its sunny and pref 5*
We know that most all inclusive resorts only allow local drinks and normally only allow you to eat in there a la carte restaurants once a week.
Our budget is tight (£500 max p/p) hence we're leaving it to the last minute... we want to avoid places with € as the pound is so weak at the moment.
Flying from any London airport.
Turkey is out too we went there last year.
Any Advice etc would be great.
thanks
I went to the Reef Oasis Blue Bay in Sharm last June/July

If you go with Portland I think its a bit cheaper.
If you go with Thompson you get a flight upgrade (not seats but drink & luggage & stuff) and you can dine in the restaurants without limit.0 -

I guess that's guaranteed though is it?0 -
Had a weeks holiday at a 4* Hotel in Hurghada last August, All-Inclusive, paid £580pp, if I were to do it again I would go Half Board or maybe B&B, the food wasn't particularly great & the meals were served at strange times so we spent extra money on sampling local restaurants, and (I'm ashamed to admit) Pizza Hut and KFC. The drinks in the hotel were quite expensive, local beer etc wasn't too bad but it didn't taste too good compared to what my boyfriend was used to back home. I really enjoyed myself but I'd enjoy myself anywhere but OH couldn't cope with the constant hassling and heckling and pressure of salesmen etc, I could have done 2 weeks but it was way too hot for him. Great standard of hotel though, brand new and gorgeous :T x0

The place I stayed had 24 hour AI, the breakfasts were about 7.30 till 11.30, lunch normal times & dinner was till about 10pm.
The Bistro was open 24/7.
The dining around as much as you like is guranteed.
There were three bonus things on the flight (luggage, drink & I can't remember the other. Could have been seating together?).0 -
Hi there,
Your budget looks pretty tight for an all-inclusive, but we went to the Marriott Taba Heights (Egypt) in August 2007 half-board for two weeks for about £700/person, which I thought was good...booked through lastminute.com or Expedia- can't remember which one. The food (dinner) wasn't brilliant but we didn't mind as it meant we didn't gain any weight while on hos. The hotel itself was nice. It is classed as a 5 star, but really is more of a 4 star. It's across the Bay of Aquaba from Jordan, so we took a boat over to Jordan and then visited Petra. In addition, you can take a bus trip to Cairo (all day), which we did as well. It's also on the border of Israel, so you can take trips to the Dead Sea and Jerusalem, but we ran out of time to do this and given the current political climate, Israel might not be your best best now. All in all it was a really fanastic holiday and we would definitely go back.
Last week I just booked our 2009 summer holiday (July) to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt as well. I booked it on Aldi Travel's new website and the 3 of us are going for 2 weeks and staying in a 5 star- The Savoy (again probably more of a 4 star in English terms), on a B&B basis for £1640 total (£546/person)...which I think is really good. We're planning to eat out every night and have budgeted for that. NB: I went to Expedia and looked up the exact same package and same hotel and the cost was £400 more...so I am feeling really good about the choice of holiday.
Egypt is great value for money. Just make sure that you budget for tipping (we took loads of US $1 bills with us after reading advice on tripadvisor.com to do so)...tipping is a big part of the culture....even for silly things like getting toilet paper while at the airport or a museum. if you do go to Egypt, I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.0 -
One option for a 'cheaper' holidays used to be to go when flight schedules changed (e.g. from winter to summer) - and you could go for say, 11 nights rather than 7 (not long enough!) or 14 (budget busting).
Not sure if this still works - you may have your heart set on 14 nights anyway.....0 -

What did you budget for meals out each night?
