Dont they get a chance of getting some or all of their money back if it dont suit them, or has this all changed?
OK - I am a distributor - and I am generally negative to the way they do business !
My signature says who I am and what I do. UWDC are one of the companies I deal with - I do not sell the energy products because they are rubbish - I sell the 0800 / 0845 products as these are ok.
The figures re number of cusomers and distributors are very intyeresting - they show that many (or most) distibutors do not make any money and many 'distributors' are taken in by the hype. They are brainwashed and try to brainwash others!
I was promised a £855 saving by one of them recently - I laughed in his face!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE Forum Team0 -
PS I note Energyman had a post removed the other day for the alleged touting of his brokerage business - seems like it's not only UW distributors who aren't earning the money some claim...[/quote]
I am new on here - and I got jumped on when I first stated posting for being 'new' - not allowed apparently!
I post a signature stating what I do - I have relevent experience in these areas and hence I post - (I think that is allowed. ) - does everyone else - what do you do for a living - I missed that bit!
The post you referred to, the person had a time dependent and potentially serious problem and I offered to help - I think that is allowed (what is the point of boards otherwise!) There is a lot of information required which is necessary to give good advice - I felt it may be more appropriate that the original poster may not wish to post such info on a board and that they would get better advice with a quick 5 minute phone call - sorry, my mistake - won't happen again!
When I started UW (as an add on to my other stuff) I was amazed at the way which this company tries to manipulate its distributors - or NEW BUSINESSES as it calls them - I feel this totally wrong and is one of the main causes of the issues raised on these boards. The reps have an unreal expectation of UWDC and how much money they will make - they all think they will 'get rich quick' if they 'follow the plan'
One of the things I wanted out of UWDC was the chance to drive the Porsche Boxter for a month - I recently bought a Mercedes SL - so I am doing ok at the moment thanks (but I appreciate your concern)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Enerygman.
What with your signature which still doesnt mention your a uw rep, and the fact your business website is in your contact info, one could get the impression you are touting for business.0 -

If I listed all the companies I worked with my signature would be longer than my posts! The word 'broker' I believe covers this! It is allowed to have a website address in a private profile - or else why ask for this info?
I don't actively promote UWDC, or associate myself with the company, as I believe (IMO) it negative to what I do and this can be seen from the postings on this forum, (from a lot of other people)re the company -

Im going to have to dissagree with Energyman here. I was very active for my first 2 years part time and i am still earning a monthly figure that is enough to wipe out my monthly costs and this is without building a huge team, infact most if not all of my income came from my own work. I have just decided to get going again and im glad too, 9 years ive been paid off this company come rain or shine, every single month my residual income comes to my account and ive done nothing in the last 7 years.
My next goal is to earn enough to cover my mortgage too, then anything i earn after that is my own.Now to get the £200 joining fee back all one has to do is gather 12 customers within your first 90 days of joining and to be honest if you cant do that then dont bother joining. This business can bring you a decent income for part time work and eventually if worked hard enough, consistantly enough in time can bring great rewards and dont forget your income gets passed on when you have gone!!!

It is just not true, and misleading for you to say "all bank back cards carry some risk".
In fact mainstream bank cards offer far greater protection - giving the cardholder all sorts of protection. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

I suppose one of the drawbacks of such a sales strategy is the cost of entry (compared to starting a conventional business) is so low it attracts dreamers. Dreamers who, when the inevitable overnight success doesn't miraculously materialise, then seek to criticise the company at every available opportunity. My father often repeats a well-known 'belief': if you took everyone in the world's money off them and divided it up equally, in 12 month's time the money would be back where it started. Too true, lol.
Anyway, this thread shouldn't be about the business opportunity as this is the gas and electric forum. No offence to choc or Nigel but I don't really care about who's making money from it or not, as a potential customer all I'm really bothered about is getting the best deal I can on my utlities. At least UW gives punters the *chance* of getting an unbeatable deal. Not for everybody, clearly, but they are definitely an interesting alternative IMO.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -

SThe pharaohs may make good money but the guys at the bottom will struggle to make any worthwhile money...........and may not even get their £200 back................and you'll probably alienate all your friends and family by trying to sell to them.
As to alienating friends and family, the old fashioned "make a list of everybody you know" thing should have died a death by now as methods have moved on.The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Utility Warehouse looks to be a safer company to be with than many others .......
If that is the case, why do they issue such bold warnings about the risks associated with putting your money up front with them on this prepayment card?
It would seem to have been much more transparent if the money paid in to the card was ringfenced instead of being an interest free loan to aid uw's cashflow - which they can renege on if they go bust and there's no comeback, as its all covered in the ts + cs.0
