I only have the disc that came with the Dell. I really can't remember there being an option to format the pc when I was re installing.
Am I ok if I leave the PC well alone and just searching for all old documents, photo's etc and deleting them. I have done a complete format and install of XP pro instead of 98 on the other PC but that was when I had someone on the end of the phone to help if needed. Thanks again.0 -
Just reinstall XP on the Dell PC you may have to press F11 to start the process
read the PCs documentation because being a Dell you will a Bit of hard drive that
holds the info for a reinstall and you should be asked to format.
I think because you didnt format in the first palce you have two images ofXP
on your hard drive also phone dell and bug the pants off them and they will
send you a XP install disk.0 -
Still deciding whether to reinstall and try formatting, BUT at the moment my SP2 pack is showing as failed and I can't download it again from windows update as I'm showing no Express updates available. Any ideas?
I have managed to install all drivers again though so my display is looking OK.0 -

Have gone for the format and clean install. Immediately downloaded ZA and am just in the process of getting all updates. Fingers crossed this time that SP2 pack installs0

What Updates? SP2? If so are you saving to disk? let me know.0

If you dont save them a format will wipe them.
Just make sure you have saved all your important docs.
A format wipes evrything and I mean everything its a good way of installing
a lovely fresh copy of XP. Once XP is installed setup a firewall then get updates.0 -
Sorry, I musn't have explained myself properly. I've already done the format and clean install. Just getting everything back and running.0
