but a higher national average means it includes the sleepy towns with 1 family and never a crime reported.
the statement that it is the safest big city, gets rid of all that and only includes cities that have a population of over 1million.
googling around, i've found some data from 2006, and on the murder rate, it is actually the second safest city of over 1 million, with San Diego and it's lowly 1.2 million population compared to 8 million NYC population.
Anyway... I must get in the car and drive to Blackpool today.... obviously it is MUCH better than NYC (/sarcasm)0 -

Has anyone climbed to the crown of the Statue of Liberty since its reopened? Wondering whether to book for my trip next year, I read its booked up months in advance so would probably have to book soon for next May.0

Might be worth booked a few months before just incase. Also if you know you definatly want to go and know the date your not going to lose anything booking it so far in advance.New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.

Manhattan is an easy city to get around regardless, so to think of a user friendly map, IMO is any map in any guidebook. They all do the same, it just depends on what the guidebook itself is like.
the streets are numbered and go cross town, with east and west sides, and avenues go up and down town, with broadway traversing diagonally. Most of the city, midtown especially, is on a simple grid pattern.
Go to a borders or waterstones, and browse some maps, one place to start is maps.google.com for an online map..
