Just a thought.............How are we actually going to manage this???

I am interested to know peoples strategies in attacking the challenge. I have a few tactics.........

I plan to make all spending on gifts including birthday's and Christmas money neutral by doing surveys, scratchcards, matched betting, Mystery shopping and selling.

Holidays in 2011 and 2012 will also be as money neutral as possible as I am collecting Mr T clubcard points and saving the vouchers. Depending on how well I do with that challenge will govern where we end up on holiday (quite exciting really). I am grabbing as many extra points that I can get my hands on.

I shall keep a spending diary and take part in the grocery challenge.

So what type of things will you lot be doing?
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

I've managed at least one free holiday abroad each year for the past 3 years with my Clubcard points vouchers.
I'm going to Egypt next February courtesy of Mr. T, and I am currently saving my vouchers for airmiles for flights to the USA later in the year (nearly reached my target).

I think I might have to re look at shopping at Tesco again.

I will be ebaying, should look into mystery shopping in the new year. Trouble is we're saving for a wedding, as well as trying to do home improvements all at the same time, so our overpayments wont be a lot, but it still all helps.

I'm going to be doing mystery shoppping, eBaying, selling books, CDs on Amazon and GreenMetropolis, match betting, scratchcards and surveys.
Going to try and increase my Tesco points but only where it is a bargain buy and reduce my shopping costs by meal planning etc.

Have managed to pay off £55k in 2 years doing this and although it really has been hard work, it has been worth it!

Looking forward to hearing what everyone else is going to do...

Similar to me Floxxie, though I haven't got my head round matched betting yet (understand the principles but don't really fancy it ), nor scratch cards so must explore these & get my daily 10p!

I've just looked & I've earned over 6.2k in 3.5 years from this & it's tax free (marginal amount of mystery shopping) so I reckon that's the equivalent to over 3.5k a year pay rise :T

You didn't mention Quidco Floxxie - 1.9k of that 6.2 is from that, are you signed up?

Off to look at Tesco savings account to see if they still have 1000 points.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Still a few gaps in the challenges and a few PMs / starting balances coming through - keep them coming and I'll update the Chart 01 and post #1 as and when I can.

    Financial Bliss / Maz123.

What will you do if people don't send their targets and/or don't send their updates as the challenge progresses?

Happy to help you through matchbetting gg, it is very simple but it took me two years to get the guts to carry my first one out :rotfl:

I used to use Quido but didn't like their £5 annual charge. I mostly use TopCashBack now - no minimum payout and no annual charge and extra amounts to Quidco (if anybody would like to be referred, let me know!)

I use paidtoshop to find the Tesco (and other) points.

Have been very slack on the mystery shopping front this year but have been quite successful on the eBay side - I have a thread on the DFW board if anyone would like to join our merry band.

Great to see that we have a common approach!

    So have I.
PaidToShop is where I get my info from.

I have read up and considered matched betting, but I wasn't ready to give it the time I think it needs to be done successfully. I might reconsider this next year.

This year alone I have received £829 so far from cash back sites (Quidco/TopCashback/GreasyPalm being the main ones) and another £105 due over the next 3 months.
eBaying junk lying around the house/garage generated £3K.

I'll also take a closer look at mystery shopping, which was on my list for 2009 and I never got round to it.

I also managed to get cheaper energy/utilites and reduce our usage which saved us approx £40 per month, and taking timed showers (instead of baths) reduced our water bill considerably.

I wil definitely maintain things at the current level and squeeze any more savings where possible.
