  • Hi all. At over two weeks since we had someone new join this challenge, we've had two join today: mollysmummy and Mortgage Monkey. I've sent you both a personal message.

I've also done a bit of reorganising of the first few posts, moving the "Announcements" post from #5 to #3, ie making it a bit more prominently displayed.

In case you haven't noticed, I've now started updating the announcements post with the remaining days before this challenge becomes locked to new entrants.

Hi all. Please count me in for this challenge. I am currently in the MFI3 challenge and intend to be in both challenges until april (when the other one finishes) and will set my new target on or before 12/12/09. When TallGirl does the October update I will have successfully achieved more than 100% of my original target. So in this challenge I intend set a larger target-this group will be ideal for motivation!!!!
    Good luck everybody!!!
maz123-so sorry to hear of your illness etc-hope you're feeling better soon, and take it easy!!!!

    Hi guys,
Count me in - I want to set myself a really really challenging target - so I am forecasting that my mortgage will be £148k by the end of this year - and my MFI3 challenge is to completely clear this by 12/12/12

This is a seriously impossible/tough challenge - but thats just the sort of thing that I like and can get my teeth into.

If I shoot for the moon and fail, then at least I will land amid the stars :j

    Hi,

Been um-ing and arr-ing about this one for a while but I'm gonna take the plunge and join in!

Okay, I will confirm this fully once the wedding is over and when I've had a proper chat with H2B but I'm currently looking at our target being to increase our overall wealth by £18000 by 12/12/12 - this is £500 pm. I think over the term of 3 years this should be completely achievable. We're hoping to try for a baby after the wedding so this figure takes into account a drop in earnings/increase in childcare costs too. Most of this increase will be in the form of paying off the mortgage although there will be some wedding debts to clear first too.

    Very excited now! :j:j:j

Well I've had a think about my MFIT-T2 challenge and I think I'll aim for getting our mortgage down by £15,000 (bearing in mind for MFI3 I only aimed for £4,000 reduction).
    Challenge on!!!

Will have to give an accurate (ish) figure for my current mortgage balance in december 09.

  • Just 70 days and counting until this challenge begins - I've updated the 'announcements' post (#3) to reflect this. Two new starters so far today:

    108 - joolley
    109 - Courgette

I've PM'd you both. Thanks for showing an interest!

Could I join too please? I'd like my mortgage to be under £120k by that time, my fixed rate ends in June 2013  so this would be a kick for me to reduce the mortgage. It's only me paying for mortgage and I'll need a replacement car by then I suppose, so I can't throw as much as some of the others on the thread.

Maz - hope your well on road to recovery, my dad is having heart tests tomorrow, but he's not taking things easy making me sort out their garden for 2 hours today whilst I'm on holiday .

    Hi FB and Maz123

Please can I join you too?

I have been watching the MFi3 with admiration and have been inspired that even I too could pay off my Mortgage years earlier.

Is this the info you need?

    Estimated Balance 12/12/09 - £94,000
I would like to reduce it by £20,000.

It is so exciting even to commit to it.

    Good luck everyone :T
