The Mortgage Free in Three - Take 2 challenge (MFiT-T2)

Good morning people,
It's been a long time since i've been on so i'll explain why.
I've been at uni and it became quite stressful at the end of the term, especially when i had to resubmit 12000 words! This took up alot of time when i was working as well.
So to treat myself i had a holiday and it was lovely, i cancelled camping and went on holiday with some unexpected money from my grandma's death.
Unfortunately when i came back i had a massive heart attack ( with numerous cardiac arrests and stent) and am now laid up at home recovering. BUT i've been treating myself, a little too much! (BIG flat screen TV!, clothes etc)
I have finally had the building work completed on my house though so i don't feel too bad, and have now stopped spending!
All this has resulted in me having a little closer look at life. To achieve this challenge i was going to have to work extra hours and was happy to do this. But due to my current situation i'm not going to be able to do this, and am also going to have to cope on half pay for a few months.
I am going to have a closer look at my figures and make readjustments accordingly, I just want to live a little more while working on the challenge, I've discovered the hard way that life's very short. (I'm only 37yrs)
Hope this makes sense to you all, sorry for ignoring you all but i'm defo back now!
Maz x

Yikes, glad you're on the mend, take careA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Maz, glad you are on the road to recovery.
You're quite right, life's too short, make the most of every day and remember whatever little extra you do put by for the mortgage is a wee step nearer your target.
Do take care.
Best wishes

OP reduced down to £400 per month while we restock saving following car purchase.
Bad news on this is watching the expected reayment date go out by 4 years, but will put this back in order mid way through next year.
Good news is that the Oct payment at the end of Septemeber will take us below £120,000 which is a nice milestone to hit.RosieTiger - Highest £242,000 Feb 2004

maz only just caught your news. Hope you are well on the way to recovering. Take care, and try to remove some stress. Nothing is worth compromising your health for.

Gosh, Maz, that was a shock to read - I am a year older than you so your post hit home, so to speak! I hope you make a rapid recovery to full health.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. As of today, I'm the proud owner of a HUGE mortgage, ready for completion on a fantastic house tomorrow.
So, for number 48, my target will be to reduce the mortgage balance by £120,000 for 12/12/12, taking into account my offset and ISA which hopefully I'll be able to keep topping up. This does assume my car keeps going - it's now failing to qualify for the scrappage scheme by one day, being a 1 March 2000 registration - and that the renovations we'll need to do are within the budget we've set.
Good luck everyone, and as we've been reminded by Maz, health is worth a lot more than being mortgage-free.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0
