Great, thanks. I'll definitely be joining.

I'm trying to come up with a figure to reduce my mortgage by, i have two figures in my head - one of which is a challenge but doable, and the other which would be a bigger challenge and would be a stretch. From the point of view of someone who has already completed the challenge, which is the best figure to aim for?

I'd go somewhere in the middle. But it all depends on who you are. I like beating my challenges so I set them sensible. Other people like to meet them exactly and therefore set them to that

Mind you everyone's situations change a couple of times over a 3 year period and the target can be adjusted if you need it to...
29/01/07 - Took on our first home for £225k, mortgage of £200,700, reduced to £70,224.44 in 6yrs

MFIT-T3 #2 - Reduce (new) mortgage from £270k to £225k whilst renovating and with our first baby on the way! £265,654.56 so far

Just switched my energy company last night. Have gone for Scottish powers fix until April 2014. Horrifying how much our energy bills have gone up in the last few years. Ours have doubled, how about yours?
Still awaiting the quote for the bathroom work so will just keep trying to get some extra shifts in place ready.
Had my handbag stolen on Saturday by some thieving little sht so have now got to pay out to get new door locks and do something for my car too.
Tbh, I think I might just get myself a steering column lock or something because it will be cheaper. Otherwise I will have to get all the locks in my car changed  including the ignition!
    Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.
    MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.
    2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.

Just having a catch up folks.

Congrats to Jock Tight and an even bigger MASSIVE congrats to FB. What a fab feeling and well done you because I'm sure at one point you were falling behind, so you've clearly had a big spurt somewhere along the way. :T:j:beer:

I hadn't been reading your diary but just popped in the other day; what a lovely thing to surprise your wife like that. I did mention it to my OH, but as I do all the finances in our household, it is more likely to be me surprising him!

Sorry to hear of your robbery Kaz2904, that's really horrible. I've had mine taken in the past, so I know how much work can potentially be involved.

I have carried on my financial clean up and have also fixed with Scottish Power. Not done a fix before, but it seemed a guaranteed way of saving money. The downside is our elec rate goes up dramatically, but we use far more gas than elec, so hopefully we still win overall.

Also managed a small victory by getting OH to change his tariff with Orange. He barely needs the phone as he has a work one, but can't use it for personal reasons unless he pays a proportion. He can't cope with the hassle that would bring so he just keeps an old phone for this purpose. He saved £5 a month by changing tariff, so it all helps!

Really looking forward to the end goal; I think we are back on track, so onwards soon to MFiT-T3.......:)
