The Mortgage Free in Three - Take 2 challenge (MFiT-T2)

After a good early start to the years savings we've hit a few small hiccups; namely partner needing glasses and a new couch needed!!
Anyway we've still made some small overpayments by underspending on food shop and mobile phones so still heading in the right direction. All things well and we'll be back on track with Feb's overpayment and the bonus £165 council tax payment going in!!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
Hi Folks
Finally got my figures sorted so we have paid off this month £1111.39. I am very pleased with that as although we are still behind percentage wise for the challenge I am ahead of my repayment plan.:T Still can't wait for May when we can make a bigger payment. So total paid off to date is £2456.37 which is 2.73%.
Sort of looking forward to the chart update to see how everyone is doing although we will be in the yellow zone really looking forward to the June one when we should be firmly in the green zone
Keep making those payments girls and boys

I'll be in the red zone next month as only managed an overpayment of £50 so far, but that's still approx £300 off my total mortgage so happy with that so far. We've had car problems, dentist bills, new tyres, MOT, TAX, leaking roof all in January and it's caught us out.
Still there's still two years and 9 months left to play catch up.0 -

DT,
Not long now. 12th February today, so just 4 weeks today until 12th March. It's inspiring looking here to see people making overpayments, be it large or small, but I'm sure it will look great in chart form.
Don't worry if you're in the yellow or red zones - I know I'm going to be in the yellow zone! Colours are just a motivational helping hand.

Hi BT,
Info here in post #4:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=17475813&postcount=4
Ideally, by 11th March - this is due to the updates going to a "holding" chart, which I then need to check the data and enter into the proper Chart 01.
Intending to publish on 12th March. In practice, if we get a poor turn out by 12th March, I may re-publish a day or two later, but as it's a snapshot in time, I can't go on re-publishing!
I've never done anything like this before, so I'm just playing it by ear!

Hi everyone,
Hope everyone is doing spiffingly!!:D
I've managed to make my first "proper" overpayment of the year of £500, although I do pay a regular £200 by dd each month.
Our balance is now in the £78K's so i'm loving that, it didn't occur to me that the figures would drop so quickly but for the year so far we have paid £1500 off the mortgage with only £200 interest added on.
Love this challenge for making me realise that with a bit of effort you can really make a difference!
Lets hope I can pay some more off by 12th March...:T
Best of luck chaps

That's what I love about this whole thing, just a little thought, a small overpayment, makes a huge difference. For me, the support and advice from this forum keeps me on track. :money:Challenge: To be mortgage free by Dec 2012
