I hope with all the good advice posted you're feeling less hassled.
One thing puzzles me, how do you know the person phoning is who they say they are? Do you have to go through an ID routine Q&A to confirm? How do they know they are speaking to you? The fact that someone answers a phone doesn't mean they are the person who is being phoned.0 -
There is an easy answer as well if you feel harrassed and dont like the calls. refuse to go through the security checks with them. i have started saying "you have called me, presumaly you have this information. i don't give out personal information on the phone. I suggest you write to me regarding this"
Hopefully they will then hang up.

Thanks, everyone - I think this one just got to me when it shouldn't have. Before I started my DMP my weekends were ruined by loads of phone calls from creditors - I used to dread them. They stopped almost entirely after the DMP began. Ironically, it was BOS who suggested Payplan in the first place! I also have debts with other bits of BOS and they have been fine and have frozen interest. I like the suggestion of refusing to go through the ID check - I must try that!0

sorry to hijack your thread i also got BT call identifier ( not sure what they call it) but it displays the callers number so once you know the number you can see it displayed and just not answer it. This service is free with BT

For numbers that aren't withheld, there's BT's 'Choose to Refuse' service. I think it costs about £10 a quarter. You can input numbers that you want blocked.0

Due to reasons outside my control, i.e. redundancy last year, I defaulted on my credit card payments to Halifax. They passed my account to Blair Scott & Oliver. I then entered into an agreement whereby I paid £10 per month. In January this year, I increased this to £22.50 per month and was told that the revised sum could start in March. On 23rd March £22.50 left my account. Today, I was horrified to discover that £600 had been taken from my Halifax bank account.
After 5 phone calls to find out who had taken it, Halifax gave me a telephone number to call but they didn't know who the number belonged to.
I rang the number, it was Blair Scott & Oliver. They confirmed that they had taken the £600 from my account because after they viewed all my Halifax accounts, they saw that one account had £790 in it so they then looked at my direct debits and standing orders set up on the account, and came to the conclusion that they could take £600 because it was "available".
I went mad at them. I stated that the "available" funds are actually not available and certainly not to them. These funds are to pay all my bills and rent for the month of April. I was then told that if I could prove the money is required to pay bills etc, then they would refund it within 24hrs.
To prove the money is needed, I have to go into a branch of Halifax and show them bills etc and then the bank would contact Blair Scott & Oliver and instruct them to refund me.
I told the girl at Blair Scott & Oliver that I doubt very much it will be that easy to get a refund but she insisted it would.
I then asked if taking money from me like this would happen again and she said "there is nothing to say it won't".
The only way to avoid this happening again apparently is for me to stop using Halifax for my banking.
Surely Blair Scott & Oliver cannot just take funds from me when we have an agreement in place that states I will pay so much a month and that I am not in breach of the agreement.
Your thoughts on this would be appreciated.0 -

Update on my last post.
My branch manager at Halifax, faxed the necessary proof of my bills etc to Blair, Scott & Oliver. She was then told the money would be refunded within 24hrs. That was on Tuesday 27th March. I called Blair etc yesterday (28th)
and was told "what makes you think we will refund it" by some jumped up Scottish !!!!!!!. He then decided that the funds had actually been refunded and were sent that day. Today, 30th March, my branch manager rang them because the money had not arrived in my account. She was then told it would take at least 48hrs and that the money was refunded yesterday.
Not only do Blair etc lie, they lie to Halifax themselves.
My branch manager actually told me today to withdraw all my money from all Halifax accounts just in case Blair etc want to get their hands on it.
This is outrageous behaviour and I have today written to Trading Standards to lodge a formal complaint.
The question remains. Will I be refunded ?0 -
Send a letter asking B O Scott for a copy of your Consumer credit agreement. You will need to send a postal order for a pound off to them as well. This will put your account into dispute. Then carry on with claiming back charges. The dca SHOULD PASS THE DEBT BACK TO THE CREDITOR. It is not often they will have relevant paperwork to back up the chasing of the debt. 12 days after request they are in default themselves and after another 30 days it has become a criminal offence. Then you can report them to trading standards and the FOS. Also after the 1st april any investigation into a DCA by the FOS will cost them 400.00. Just a little snippet to help you along . Hope this helpsNight Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:
