Ironing Day Blues!!

I don't iron, unless it's something major, which happens about once a year!
I hang clothes to dry on the line, sometimes ON hangers. I bought a clothes rail & hang them on hangers on that to dry in winter (leave a window open, they still need air even if its cold!). I avoid using my tumble dryer wherever possible because of the cost, but do use it for towels.
I never fold clothes neatly to put away, I just hang them straight into wardrobes, or put them straight into drawers.
My m-i-law even irons her sheets & underwear! I can't believe it, who looks at your lovely ironed sheets?0 -
I hate ironing, but I saw this video today and it *almost* makes me want to pull out our poor neglected iron!
Funny what a simple video can do! - Just a man ironing a shirt0 -
I think ironing was invented as a penance! I hate it! Only do the bare minimum. I find I have to take clothes out of the drier as soon as it finishes if I want to avoid creases, but not doing that at this time of year. I try to hang things up as they come off the line. Never iron bedding, just fold and put away in the airing cupboard.Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
I hate ironing too and use the tumble drier. One tip though is to put the clothes your going to wear in the bathroom hanging up. The steam from the shower or bath will help get rid of creases.0

See I actually think that if No-One ever ironed anything, then all our clothes would always be creased, no one would look any less smart than anyone else, and then no one would have to bother to iron!
Win-Win!0 -

Does anyone have any tips on a good iron for someone with not much money?
I bought a real cheapie (Sabichi) and it doesn't get the deep creases out of my t-shirtsI'm not 100% sure if it's the iron, the ironer (me!) or the way I wash my clothes (the powder/cycle etc). I think it's the iron as I never had issues before I got this new cheap one and it's frustrating me.
I don't want to pay out loads for a new iron to find out it's a waste of money0 -
When I lived in my old flat we had a shower over the bath.
When I was getting ready to go out I would simply hang my outfit on the shower curtain rail and when the bathroom filled with steam from my shower, the creases would just fall out! :j
This worked even with clothes that had been stuffed in a drawer after drying or folded with really bad creases.
Now I've moved and don't have a shower over the bath, just a cubicle which doesn't fill the room with enough steam for it to work. I'm gutted.0 -
Hate ironing. Hang washing out to dry on the line. A good breezy day and majority of the creases fall out that way. Hadn't ironed for years, then eldest son joined air cadets. Have to iron his uniform, greens (camouflage clothing) and blues (smart trousers and shirt). The creases have to be sharp and in exactly the right place.
Its taken me a few months but at last I have gotten the creases right. Just need to teach him how to iron them now and then I can go back to my non ironing days...0 -
I honestly can't believe all those who iron everything.. I never iron anything unless I have to. I hang it out well so it doesnt crease and hang up/fold as soon as it's dry. Obviously some items do need an iron but only a small amount. A serious waste of time fretting about ironing, too much to achieve in life!Received £2,626.00 in PPI -2013:j
Received £1400 charges - 2006:j0
