Hmmmmmm, well I've been told the same story by two difference customer service monkeys so I assume they're telling the truth. They told me my broadband order would go through today so we'll see...

Pipex final billing makes me nervous but after they've taken what they say they'll take I'll cancel the DD - not trusting them to do it and stop charging me like they should. ;)

Hmmmmm, exactly the opposite for us. BB first, within 1 week, and currently waiting for line and call package to be switched from BT. We had a BT wholesale BB package retailed through IDNet - just guessing but the different approach maybe because you have Pipex LLU package?

For the OP, very smooth transition thus far [touch wood!!], router arrived in 5 days and we were switched on day 7, it didn't go live until 2pm but speeds [on up to 8mgs] are very acceptable given our distance from the exchange.

Oh yes, be very, very afraid! ;)
When we migrated from them in August 06 they chased us for a non-owed £14 for about 5 months even passing it on to an agency! 9 months after switching they sent a letter apologising for not collecting the correct amount in May 07 and asking for another £6odd we didn't owe! The words P1SS, UP and BREWERY spring to mind regarding Pipex, such a pitty as they were a really good ISP at one time.
  • I just signed up to sky broadband and skytalk on the offer mentioned by the OP.

Went through Quidco and got £35 cashback. :money:
  • went to sky BB on friday, everything is perfect, change over was done, speed and connection is good, the only problem with sky is the long phone calls, but use the 015 number which is free, but the wait is 30 minutes at peak time.
  • if you are on a sky talk package the phone calls to sky customer services and the like on the 0844 numbers are free.:j

I am on the lowest range and pay nothing for BB and skytalk.
As another poster says calls are free to Sky if you are a Skytalk customer.
But, if you use other 0845 or 0870 numbers they are really expensive with SKy so make use of the say no to 0870 website, i find it invaluable.
    Cant fault Sky

Thanks for the updates and info everyone! Think we're going to take the plunge and get this sorted - our current bill for BT phone line, line rental and broadband on top of what we're paying just for Sky TV is silly-high. Definitely going to be worthwhile switching to Sky Broadband and phone methinks. Fingers crossed it all goes well. Doubt anything will get done til next week now as other half is working away at the moment but will update this thread when we've taken the leap and done it! ;D
  • Hi I asked Bt for my mac code to move to sky They offered to lower the price but sky were still cheaper but then they called me the next day and offered me line rental, boadband (I am on option 2) free evening and weekend calls for £14.30 total. So looks like I am staying on for another 12months
